"Faint heart never won fair lady." (Mia Thermopolis)

In Princess in the Middle, Mia's love life is a mess. She has a boyfriend, but she's in love with someone else, her best friend's older brother, Michael Moscovitz. Unfortunately, Michael is going out with a senior who's smarter than Mia. Mia feels she doesn't stand a chance and that Michael will always see her as his younger sister's best friend.

♕ Princess in the Middle is quite repetitive, but I didn't mind it because I was living for all the drama.
♕ I like Mia's voice and personality. Lovesick Mia is hilarious!
♕ Mia's starting to stand up for herself. She sets off the school fire alarm to stop a school walkout and she destroys Lana's phone. However, she STILL needs to tell Lily to stop pushing her around.
♕ My love-hate relationship with Lily continues.
♕ Grandmère is such a twisted woman, but she shows that she cares about Mia in her own way.
♕ I feel bad for Kenny. Mia was leading him on and I just wanted her to stop. However, I could understand why she didn't. She's only 14 years old, this is her first relationship and she's not used to standing up for herself and expressing her feelings.
♕ There's also emotional cheating, one of my pet peeves. However, it didn't bother me in Princess in the Middle.
♕ Also, I am swooning over Michael Moscovitz!

Initial Thoughts

Really excited about this book! I was hoping we’d get to see Genovia this time!

My New BFF

I don’t really know who to pick as my bff in this book. Normally I like Mia but she was kind of annoying in this book. She had too much romance drama going on and it kind of turned me off this book a little.

My Crush

I’m really not liking any of the male characters. Except maybe Mia’s bodyguard. I think he’s hilarious and easily one of my favourites. He infidelity adds some humour where you’d think there wouldn’t be any.

Writing Style

I’m having a hard time writing about this book. I thought it was kind of boring and didn’t really live up to the expectations the first two books gave me. I thought Mia was being really immature the whole time. Also where did all these boys come from? Suddenly they’re everywhere.

Closing Thoughts

I was pretty disappointed in this book. I was expecting more because of the first two books. I’m really hoping the next book picks back up or this will be a really disappointing series. I just felt like the whole romance angle in this book could have been done better and I also don’t like any of the male characters so far. Why can’t there just be a nice, simple boy? Who’s also really attractive of course. I feel like I’m just saying how horrible this book was. It wasn’t horrible. I was just disappointed in the plot and the characters which seems like it deserves less stars but I still mostly enjoyed this book.

This series will continue being cute I'm sure. I love the writing style and Mia's voice is witty and entertaining. She sounds just like a 14 year old would in a diary, although you know, she writes a helluva-lot in her diary. I mean I don't even know how she would find time to write so often and so much. Obviously a slight hitch in this series. But I'm not complaining. This series is entertaining.

In this book her age shines, as I read I usually forget she's only 14 but in this book it was plain obvious. Obviously because of the way she handles Kenny. Which was super annoying. And then that made me realise just how old Michael is. If he's going to college and only a year early at that, that means he's 17 (I think? I don't live in America so I'm not 100% sure what age people start college (We call in university and it's usually 18 here in NZ)). It's only a three year gap but at the same time it feels like a lot. It's weird though because if Mia were 15 and he was 18 I don't think I would feel weird about this. It's probably because 14 just seems so young.
