"Trust Grandmère to destroy the one story I have ever wholeheartedly loved." (Mia Thermopolis)
In Party Princess, Mia is worried about fitting in at Michael's college party because she is not a party girl. Mia has also bankrupted the student council and to help her fundraise, Grandmère stages a musical about Genovia and Mia is cast as the lead.
♛ I love Mia's voice and personality, but she's shallow and superficial in Party Princess.
♛ Party Princess is entertaining, but it lacks substance. I know that The Princess Diaries series are fun and light reads, but Party Princess is a 'filler' book.
♛ J.P. (The Guy Who Hates It When They Put Corn In The Chili) is introduced as a character in Party Princess and he's a nice guy. It's interesting to see how Mia and her friends perception of J.P. changes after they get to know him. Unfortunately, having read the entire Princess Diaries series, I strongly dislike J.P.
♛ Grandmère is in her element in Party Princess.
♛ I don't understand what's so bad about selling candles to make money. The student council is bankrupt and Mia is desperately trying to fundraise... Why would she hesitate about selling candles?!? I really don't understand much of what goes on in Mia's head.
"You can delegate all you want, but, ultimately, YOU'RE the one who is going to pay the price if something goes awry." (Mia Thermopolis)
