This was meant to be the conclusion to the Maximum Ride series. It was marketed as such—as I have a big “RIP Maximum Ride” sticker on my cover. I would have gladly left the series at that. However, as I own the next book already, I guess I will be continuing. But the series has gotten way too repetitive and messy.

As a final book to the series, it wasn't half bad. Though it seemed kind of rushed, and it seemed to lack the flair the other books even the later of the series, where the direction took a different course. But it was very nice to see the original flock all together again, even with the added Dylan to it. The book though had definitely gotten better, when Fang returned to Max and the flock. My opinion is, is that he should've never left. Dylan doesn't belong with Max, never did, regardless of what those people had said. Fang and Max always belonged together. They are ying and yang, peanut butter jelly, the other half to their souls. So it was great when the book went back into the direction of them getting together, than the direction of Max and Dylan though don't get me wrong Dylan was okay, he just wasn't Fang. But now for the storyline. Ummmmmm, well, ok it definitely lacked finesse, though the ending that was actually quite unique, and really I thought super cool. Except the whole part about Max's mom being brainwashed, and how Jeb's power was washed away, that seemed a little hokey. The island, and the total apacolyptic wash out of the island, and half the island under water, and up high cliffs.... it was completely perfect... except that the rest of the flock was trapped underwater in caves. But all in all it was a nice ending especially when Max finally told Fang that she "loved him"

Characters
Maximum Ride isn’t a normal girl. She’s not a normal human. Nope, she has wings, a killer survival instinct, and an attitude– and she’s only 14! Not only that, but she takes care of five other people who make up “the Flock” (human-bird hybrids with wings like her) and is burdened with the responsibility of saving the world. I think she takes it very well. Her family isn’t exactly perfect what with a blind Iggy, enigmatic Fang, loquacious Nudge, and the mischievous twins Gazzy and Angel.
Story
In the Angel Experiment,the first novel, Angel has gone missing. Angel is the youngest Flock member who has the ability to read and manipulate minds. When the Flock are ambushed by a new hybrid-species created by the School called Erasers (an uglier version of werewolves if you will, but in no means supernatural– more like genetically engineered), the Erasers take Angel hostage back to the terrible School for more testing. Max decides the Flock needs to go save her, starting the 8 book series of terrifying adventures.
Other Notes
Now, while action is the main focus (which is why I read it in the first place, I’ll add and therefore breaking the stereotypical “girls only read love stories”) there is romance sprinkled throughout all the stories. First with Max and Fang and then later with another winged beauty named Dylan (introduced in Fang, the 6th book of the series), creating another passionate love-triangle in Pop Culture. Max’s drama with Fang and Dylan and their rivalry is awesome. The dialogue (banter, arguments, heart to hearts, etc) and the descriptions draw me in. I just love this series. Definitely a favorite of mine!
