The Erasers were good opponents. There was a human, relatable quality to them but they were also dangerous and unpredictable. They could be beaten up, walk away from a fight and then come back around for another tussle. The robots villains in this book and the previous couple all just get blown up aren't worth taking seriously.
Max has become a more complex character, though, and that's interesting. Her role and responsibilities as the leader, her relationship with the flock and Fang have all changed some and that's what makes it a readable fun book.
