Fall of Night was quite interesting. Claire is finally going to MIT. It’s been her dream and now that it’s happening, she isn’t sure how to feel. Morganville has been her home for nearly two years, but she does need space from Shane, and she knows she’ll regret not taking this chance while she can. But once she gets there, things aren’t at all how she expected. Her BFF is a completely different person, something is off about the professor she’s working for, and there are vampires. You can take the girl out of Morganville, but you can’t take Morganville out of the girl.

I definitely liked Fall of Night better than the previous book, as it finally starts moving things forward again. Claire got her wish to escape Morganville and the vampires who rule there, but she’s certainly not safe. There are strange men searching her room, official types lingering in the lab, and her roommate has a stalker. Not to mention that someone isn’t really who they say they are and just want to use Claire for her genius. A lot is happening even though Claire is suppose to be away from all of the vampire drama. It’s like she’s a magnet for trouble.

The one thing that I didn’t really like about Fall of Night was Shane. He follows Claire to Cambridge. I don’t really get why. Yes, he misses her, but still. It was weird. Especially since he agreed to give her space, and yet he’s practically stalking her at her new home. I was hoping that the alternating POV would keep us up to date on what’s happening in Morganville, but that wasn’t the case at all.

Fall of Night was a good sequel, and it had me pumped up for the finale. Claire got a taste of freedom, but it wasn’t what it was cracked up to be. So it’s time to head home, and hopefully find freedom and safety there.

El Extraño Gato del Cuento

Por culpa de un spoiler (falso, para colmo) me salté mi idea de primero releerme los primeros libros hasta llegar a este, y como dije, el spoiler ese, no me dejó vivir en paz hasta que lea Fall of Night. En cierta forma, la falsa información que leí le dio emoción a los primeros capítulos, quiero tanto a esta saga que el hecho que no fuera a terminar como yo lo había previsto me estaba rompiendo el corazón, y por la misma razón leí casi la mitad del libro en lágrimas.

Este libro fue diferente, no supe como sentirme, porque es Claire viviendo la vida que pudo haber sido suya si no hubiera llegado a Morganville, y completo conflicto también para ella, dejando atrás a sus amigos, y sintiéndose un poco traidora al disfrutar esta nueva vida. Pero, claro, puedes sacar a una chica de Morganville, pero no puedes sacar a Morganville de una chica, porque Morganville te perseguirá a donde vayas. Y como siempre Caine acostumbra, esos finales tan... tan... Esa mujer no tiene piedad u.u

As I love the Morganville Vampires series, it will be no surprise to hear I was so excited to read Fall of Night! And no surprise that I loved it! I'm going to bother with a summary this time round. It would be difficult for me to give my own without spoiling the story, so the description above will have to do this time round.

It's so awesome to have a book set outside Morganville. It's strange, because although Morganville is full of vampires, residents know this, and, sure, there may be trouble sometimes, but everyone knows how things work. Outside of Morganville... you don't know how things work. How safe is "safe"? By not knowing the area, even without vampires, the fact that you know they exist makes you weary in unknown places. Better the devil you know, right? So Claire gets to Cambridge to attend MIT, and has trouble shaking Morganville off. It doesn't help that she's there without her friends. Or that Professor Anderson is a former Morganville resident, and keeps her on her toes.

Despite the fact that Claire's on her own, Fall of Night is another dual narrative, told from Shane's point of view. Seeing them both struggle with being apart, on top of them both having to deal with Claire's feelings of disappoint over Shane's lack of trust in Bitter Blood in hard. Neither of them are really all that happy, but Claire feels their relationship needs this time apart, time to sort out where their heads are, in order for them to survive as a couple.

Fall of Night is another action packed novel full of danger, it's just with this one, you never know where the danger is coming from! When Claire's roommate is abducted, and they later discover that VLAD has been stolen from Dr. Anderson's lab, all hell breaks loose. Two separate or related incidents? And which to deal with first? I can't really say much more than that without giving the story away but it's just as awesome as all the previous books!

And the ending! Oh my god! So looking forward to Daylighters to see how that pans out, yet I can wait a really long time for it, because I know once I've read it, that will be it. There's not much else to say, really. The book is amazing, Rachel Caine is amazing, the series is amazing - and I don't want it to end!

Fall of Night is the 14th book in The Morganville Vampires series, and though I love this series, I didn’t think it could surprise me anymore… But I was blown away completely, and could have never seen the impact coming! The ending was so awesome I wish I could now be a fly on the wall in Rachel Caine’s office (or wherever it is she’s writing) so that I could know sooner what will happen next!
