I love the new Mac, and I enjoy how much she has grown throughout the series so far, can't wait to see what else will happen. And cute little Dani.. And damn Barrons.. LOVE this series !
And that ending !! Damn.. now I have to continue right away with the next one XD
*Only thing is that I sometimes feel that Mac thinks too much XD That I skim a bit through her conversations with herself because, for me, they take too long. But this is a problem I had from the beginning (and the first time I read it), so it is just part of it and I accepted it. Now get me the next one !!
And that ending !! Damn.. now I have to continue right away with the next one XD

Holy smokes this was an adventure-filled book. Dreamfever certainly turned up the drama and the intrigue, that’s for certain. The first 50 pages or so are very different to the rest of the novels, and they have good reason to be. I actually enjoyed the fact that given Mac’s changed point-of-view, the writing/storytelling style changed for that amount of time. Did I like the Mac that emerged from that. Not exactly. As much as what she went through should have changed her, she sort of forgot who her essential self was for a while afterwards. It wasn’t until she started dressing like Mac and sometimes being a bit silly that I knew we hadn’t lost her for good.
Jericho Barrons is pretty much an ass. But he also has a very-well hidden side to him that seems to show up most when Mac is seriously injured. Mind you, they both should have done the horizontal tango before now and they would probably be a lot better off.
Rowena needs to stop being such a stubborn old cow and let the sidhe-seers fight, train them up and show them how to use their arts properly. I wanna smack her about some, maybe knock some sense into that head of hers.
The ending. Well damn I was glad to have the next book waiting for me to read it. I would have hated having to wait to find out what happens next (I’ll post that review tomorrow.). What a cliffhanger though. It was a really, really mean one. I was pretty sure I had worked it out, but then there was a small chance that it was going to work out slightly differently, and I was like “I’d rather it be the second option”.

WOW! OMG! Talk about an incredible ride! If you're like me, you jumped into this book within minutes of finishing Faefever; That cliff-hanger ending was just too intense to wait! So, this book picks up right were Faefever left off, with Mac's rape by the Dark Fae Princes. The writing style changes; Mac is no longer herself and it is done so well! The first part of this book is really awesome and in an effort to avoid spoilers, that's all I'll say. But it's great :-)
Unlike the earlier books, this one switches between Mac's and Dani's point of view. It definitely changes the read of the book, but I think it was for the best. The switches between them are clear and, if you're listening to the audio, Natalie Ross does really great voices for both Mac and Dani. In fact, this is the book I'd recommend you switch to audio on - Natalie Ross and Phil Gigante do an amazing job.
Mac's transformation in this book is staggering; Barrons reveals himself in ways you've never seen him, and some questions about who he is begin to be answered. We also delve even deeper into the Abbey and the world of sidhe-seers, which is really fascinating and equally frustrating. I found that even though many answers began to reveal themselves, I was left with even more questions, worry, and anxiousness as Mac's situation grows ever more complicated. And if you thought the last book was a cliff-hanger... well, you haven't seen a cliff-hanger until you get to the end of this book! Have the next one ready!

The Basics:
Dreamfever is the fourth book of the Fever series and picks up exactly where the third left off, so do yourself a favor and go read Faefever before continuing. Mac is still our narrator, but she is not the girl we once knew. Introduction by thirteen year old Dani!
My Thoughts:
Dreamfever starts right where Faefever left off: with Mac sandwiched between three (or was it four?) Unseelie princes. She has managed to get herself into the worst possible situation, and I couldn't get enough! That probably makes me a terrible person, but I was here for it. I actually really enjoyed those first several chapters with "savage" Mac. I know it's an awful situation, but I was invested 100%.
We finally get to see several new sides to Barrons in Dreamfever as he's Mac's knight in shining leather. He's oddly tender and caring (but definitely forceful) as he attempts to bring Mac back to herself. It was a nice change from his evasive and demanding former self, even if he was still doing it for selfish reasons. Or was he? I think his motivation goes deeper than that, since he seems to be in competition with V'lane over her. Although V'lane continues to prove himself over and over again. Or does he?
There is plenty of action and some major revelations regarding the Lord Master. Is he really the bad guy, or is he just another person tangled up in the mess the Fae have created? We definitely don't get any answers about anything, but we get some more misshapen pieces to the puzzle that is the Sinsar Subh and this so-called "prophecy." The mystery just keeps building, making this addition to the Fever series a non-stop page turner! I finished in less than a day this second time around.
Make sure you have Shadowfever on hand when reading this, because that is the steepest cliffhanger you will be left hanging from. It was the one thing that I did remember from reading this nearly nine years ago. I knew it was coming, but I still wasn't prepared for it.

Okay. I’m not as angry after reading Dreamfever as I was with Faefever. Maybe knowing there was a cliffhanger made it easier to deal with (or maybe because I know I have Shadowfever next to me right now and that I’ll pick it up as soon as I finish writing and scheduling this review) because what it hints at is epic. I was curious how Mac would come back from what happened to her in Faefever. The first part of Dreamfever was tough for me to get through; this feeling was more due to the narration than the story itself. Once I hit 25% or so, I got pulled so deeply into the story that I had to force myself to put it down so that I could go to bed.
That’s great, right? Well kinda. The story lagged for me the next day when I picked it back up. Don’t get me wrong, I really like black Mac and that there is serious kicking butt and other changes involved with it all, but there was an element of absurdity in where the story was taken that my interest waned. However, Dreamfever is definitely better than the previous two books, and I am thankful the series is finally starting to go somewhere, or I would really be pissed off.
One aspect that I actually really enjoyed was the philosophical bits and pieces that float around this series. They aren’t obvious and are usually wrapped up in Barrons’ “lessons” but occasionally Mac pulls something out too, and I can’t help but think how right they are. Things like how the media desensitizes us, and how we use what we’ve seen on TV as a guide for life.

WOW, this was a twisted tale! Rowena pisses me off even more than she pisses of Mac, I'm sure of it! Dani is excellent, and Mac keeps getting strongeer, even if a lot of twisted things have to happen for that to happen. And the cliffhanger was killing me... again.
