очень "удачно" я увидела и купила всю серию из 4 книг, а потом узнала что есть пятая) теперь только с божьей помощью ее искать, так что чем там все закончится узнаю наверное через года

There's no time to really write out my thoughts - I need to start reading the next book asap. But can I just say this is not where I thought the series would go when i first started it. And I'm loving it.

Oh man, I am such a complete fan of this series! Origin is the 4th installment of Jennifer Armentrout's Lux Series and this book was one I was deeply anticipating. And when I snatched a copy early, all thanks to Barnes and Noble, excitement was an understatement. I love EVERY SINGLE MOMENT of this book and it's quite the game changer, quite a few things are revealed and it's just crazy!

I strongly suggest you read the first book of the series, you'll have no idea what I'm talking about.

Wow! The ending of this book was hard to believe! I loved this book and that it was told both from Katy and Daemon's POV. I especially loved it because I'm listening to the audio version of this series. There's a lot that happens in this book, so hold on for the ride.

REALLY loved reading this one. It has taken me way to long to continue this series, but it has been in the back of my mind for months.. I just never picked it up again.. Until now.
And wow.. it was like it had been just days since I read the third book instead of 2 years (damn 2 years XD, I was right back into this world and it's awesome characters. I flew though the pages.. LOVED it.
And that ending.. I have to read the next (and also the last) book asap !!

I read the first three books in the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout earlier in the year, back to back. I loved them, so different from other urban fantasy/paranormal romances I've read before because it's aliens! And they're abilities and histories are unlike anything else I've ever read. I took a break rather than continuing the series to read other books, but I recently picked up the fourth novel, Origin, to find out what happened after the unbelievable cliffhanger Opal finished on, and woah - this series is far better than I remembered!

After being captured by Daedalus after the rescue attempt to save Beth, Katy is now under their control. Each day she must undergo tests - physical tests, stress tests - shown and told things she never would have thought possible, and has everything she believed about the Luxen turned on her head. But when she's pushed to the edge in what she can take with her awful tests, and the horrendous things they put her through, can she really believe what they tell her, what she sees?
 Daemon is determined to get Katy back, no matter what it takes. So he willingly allows himself to be caught by Daedalus when no other way to get to Katy seems possible. Katy cannot believe what he's done and the danger he's put himself in, but is so relieved to be able to see him. Daemon is distraught to discover the shape Katy is in, but she won't tell him what has happened to her - only what she's discovered. But Katy has only scratched the surface on what there is to learn, and when the two find out more about what Daedalus is doing, they realise just how far in over their heads they are. Can they escape Daedalus, and if they can, what are they going to do with all they have discovered?

Firstly, what I've said above is not spoilery. All that I've revealed (though it's very vague, as you'll see when you read the book) happens within the first few chapters, and absolutely so much happens in this book. Origin is nuts. Really. It's almost like two books; Daemon and Katy being tested on by Daedalus and all they discover, and what happens later on. I'm not even going to hint at what that is, because woah. You need to discover that for yourself. But kudos to Armentrout, because this is one seriously thought out book. It's the penultimate book in the series (which I have just this second discovered as I write this), which has me thinking that Origin and Opposition, the final book, are what this series is all about.

The first three books were awesome, they introduced the characters, set up the romance, gave us all the info on the Luxen, and led to Katy's capture, from which point things start to get crazy. The story of the Lux series is not the story of a relationship, at least not completely, but a story of this alien race, and only now do things start to involve the world - humans and Luxen - rather than just the group of characters we've come to know. So many things are revealed in the first part of the book, and I have no idea how Armentrout is going to answer all the questions that crop up from Origin in Opposition. So much wow. And Daedalus are truly sick and twisted, and oh my god, I cannot believe the things they're doing! Though, at the same time, I kind of can, from their point of view, with context, it kind of makes sense, but still!

The second half of the book goes to a whole new level. So much action, so many consequences. I have never read anything quite like it, accept maybe in Harry Potter - not that the two are alike in anyway, I'm just talking the scale of the action. With how this book ends, I'm just absolutely flabbergasted. Things just got real. Really, really real. In a big way. Huge! It has me seriously excited, so very anxious - for the characters and what will happen, but also about whether I'll get satisfactory answers my questions - and sad that the series is going to end so soon. It feels soon for me.

I did have a problem with the book though. I got a bit bored with the epicness of Daemon and Katy's love. It's beautiful and it's hot, of course, but it gets a bit wearing after a while. Every move, breath, word, causes a reaction in the other that is described... too often. Yes they're in love, they're crazy about each other and they turn each other on, but not every single detail needs a corresponding reaction that needs to be poetically described. I think I now kind of prefer it when they're not all lusty and are just in danger. Thankfully, because of the situation they're in, this doesn't happen too many times in the book, so doesn't detract too much from the awesome of the whole thing.

An absolutely incredible book, and I am so, so eager to read the next book! Which I now have, but might wait a while to read. Want to keep this series from ending as long as possible. An awesome story, if you loved the first three, you're going to be in awe of Origin!

Origin is very different than the previous three books in the series, but I enjoyed it all the same. Katy is just trying to survive without giving into all of Daedalus' commands, and Daemon is doing everything in his power to get her back. Things are much worse in the Daedalus compound than I anticipated. They're claiming to be doing great things, which I almost fell for for a moment, but really, they're just horrible. Their secret project? Disturbing as heck, and Katy wants nothing to do with it! Of course, Katy and Daemon aren't separate forever, but their reunion does cause all hell to break loose.

There is a lot going on in Origin and ton about the Luxen, Arum, and Daedalus is revealed. I'm actually quite glad that I read Obsession first, since the things we learn from Hunter are confirmed when Katy is being held captive. The tone is much darker and more suspenseful than the series has been thus far, but then again, no one has been tortured and experimented on. Katy isn't sure which parts of Daedalus' story are true, especially in the face of conflicting evidence, but she does know that their overall goal cannot be a good one. And which side is she going to be on when the inevitable happens? With the humans or with the Luxen? She doesn't even know she is anymore.

While I really enjoyed Origin, I did have a few issues with it. There's a lot of action and shocking reveals, which was great, but it was also interspersed with some really corny, sappy moments. I loved getting Daemon's POV, but he spent a lot of time thinking about his future with Katy, including marriage, kids, and a white picket fence. Those two also cannot stop saying "I love you" every ten seconds. I know they're in a horrible situation and can die at any moment, but it was a bit much. Then something happens after their escape which made me literally groan in annoyance. I just could not believe they'd do that. It felt very forced and very cliche, and added nothing to the story other than a reason for Daemon and Katy to be away from the safety of the group.

I'm being very vague, because I don't want to spoil anything about Origin, and there is a lot to spoil! Other than the couple of annoyances at the end, I did really enjoy it. I don't think it's my favorite of the series, but it's a worthy installment since it ups the stakes for everyone involved. The first three books were generally light, fun, and fun of sexual tension, but Origin goes beyond that into more serious territory. The world is much bigger than Katy and Daemon, and those last pages....dang. I had to pick up Opposition immediately!

Initial Thoughts

I was so excited to finish this book! The one before it ended off with a decent cliff hanger so I went out and bought this one. It was sad seeing everyone locked up at the start. It was kinda of weird too but I got through it and it was still interesting. I was excited because there was so much potential for this book and I couldn't wait to see how it ended.

My New Best Friend

I really wish Dee was in this book a little more because I really loved her. Archer, however was a new favourite. He was just so interesting but his part in the book was really obvious. Besides that though he was really entertaining and I loved his sarcastic bits.

My Crush

How can anybody say that Daemon is not their crush. Seriously. He's perfect. He makes me want to cry because he's so perfect. He is a little too perfect and unrealistic but who even cares at this point. He does tend to rush into things so I guess that could be his flaw. He probably shouldn't have gotten caught, because that was also obvious but it worked out in the end.

Writing Style

The plot was really predictable in this one. From Daemon getting caught, to Archer being their inside guy to what is happening with Bethany. All of it was too easy to guess. The writing itself was pretty good. It was just plot flaws that upset me.

Closing Thoughts

It was doing really good at the start but the rest of it was too predictable. In fact in reminded me of Twilight, like a lot. That made me really upset. There was so much potential to this book and it just never went there. There was no spontaneous moment that changed everything. It was actually kind of boring. I was just so excited because the other books were pretty good so maybe my expectations were a little high. Also I thought this was the last book and I was kind of upset that it wasn't I'll get over it though.

SPOILERS But the one thing that bothered me the most was that Bethany was pregnant. Come on. Seriously. You're going to go there? Pull a Twilight on us? That made me so mad. Even how two of the characters got married so young. Why do authors keep doing that? I don't want to read about people getting married and having babies when they're 18. NO THANKS. PS no offence to anyone who has done this but do you really want to read about it in every single book? END OF SPOILERS

Bonus

Usually my bonus is Daemon but this book annoyed me so much that I can't even give it a bonus. HUGE disappointment.
