This wasn’t quite what I expected. I think I thought it would be a bit lighter, a little more Kasie West. But it’s not. The language was off-putting. And the conflict complication was not light-hearted. This is kind of a serious book.
Which isn’t bad. It’s an enjoyable book, I think mostly because the full cast of characters is amusing. It definitely skews older (even though the characters are 17 and 19). But the Garrett family dynamic pulls the story and the characters together well. And Tim and Alice work well as main characters because each are interesting enough but themselves to carry the portion of the story they’re expected to (Tim more than Alice which works out well).
If it weren’t for the language I think I would have liked it more.
