It's taken me YEARS to get to the sequel to Paranormalcy, but slipping back into Evie's world was easy as pie. It was so good to catch up with Evie, Lend, the IPCA. I can't wait to go and read Endlessly tomorrow, and finish up the series and see what's to come for Evie and co, and the dreaded faeries. Kiersten White is such a good storyteller and I raced through the book in double quick time!

This was another good addition to this series. It was a little slow to start but the story definitely picked up and took off after a few chapters in. This book takes place not too long after the first book ends. Lend has graduated from high school and is attending Georgetown University and Evie is in her senior year of high school. Evie lives above the paranormal diner and not with David anymore because living with your boyfriend’s father without your boyfriend there is just weird.
So anyway, Evie is trying to live that normal life she longed for in the first book and she’s kind of bored. She misses working with the IPCA and she misses Raquel but she’s coping as best as she could by doing the best that she can in school so that she can get into Georgetown with Lend, next year. She’s going about minding her own business when a sylph tries to kidnap her but because she’s got that little power of soul stealing, she takes enough of his soul that he drops her (from the pain) and then she’s back home with the people who care about her and she tries to brush it off.
On the same day that she’s almost kidnapped, Raquel comes back into the picture, asking for Evie’s help at IPCA. She swears up and down that things have changed over there and while they’re not 100% on the up and up, they’re aware of the things that they’ve been doing and they’re doing the best that they can to make things right. She wants Evie to come back and help out and though Evie wants to, she doesn’t think its a good idea because she doesn’t trust the IPCA and she knows that David and Lend won’t want her to go back either.

It’s hard for Evie because she wants to go back and help other paranormals out, the ones that need her help but she doesn’t know how to make Lend understand that the IPCA wasn’t perfect but they did help paranormals out, in their own way. So things happen and Evie goes back to work for the IPCA on her terms. She can pass on any assignment that comes her way if she thinks it’s too dangerous and she won’t work with any faeries. Raquel agrees to all of this and introduces her to her portal helper, non-faerie Jack. Jack can open faerie doors but isn’t a faerie so Evie goes back to work for the IPCA.

What I liked about this book was seeing everyone again. I really enjoyed getting to know Arianna, David, Lend’s Mom and everyone else in the book and seeing them again was great. I really like Lend and Evie together so seeing them together and in love without it being eye roll inducing was great. I liked that they’re still getting to know each other and they’re still in that I like her phase. I liked that they weren’t perfect but what I didn’t like was what I liked in the first book. The secrets. Evie had a lot of secrets in this book and she kept them from Lend. I really hate that she didn’t trust him enough to deal with her issues with her. When she kept the first secret and then the second secret, my heart hurt because she was being so unfair to Lend but alls well that ends well. By the time that she finally came free, I wanted to strangle her but I was glad that Lend finally knew the truth.

What I’m mighty curious about is where the heck is Lend’s Mom? Why has she been gone so long? Where did she go? Is there something wrong with her or what? Curious minds want to know and all that.
I never warmed up to Jack so I wasn’t completely surprised when all of the crap hit the fan at the end. It made sense since I’m usually all about new love interests and potential love interests and what not. I wonder if I’m going to find something out about Raquel because I can’t quite warm up to her either but I think it’s because she sighs too much. I hate when she sighs.

On the story front, I thought White did a fabulous job of weaving this story together. It started off slow but when it took off, it really took off. I really enjoyed seeing where Evie was in her life after the first book and watching her try to fumble her way through this new life that she’s building for herself was good stuff. It’s funny because when I first started Paranormalcy, I didn’t like Evie at all and now I love her. She’s not the most perfect of people but for me, that’s what I love the most. She could be anyone that I know, she’s this normal teenage girl who has these abilities and she’s trying to use her powers for good and mostly winning.

I’m anxious for the next book. I can’t wait to read it and if you haven’t read this book or series, you totally should. It’s a wonderfully entertaining YA paranormal series with likeable characters and a main character that will totally win you over. It’s a good one.

I think what disappointed me most about Supernaturally was that it was missing that special Evie spark that Paranormalcy had. I fell in love with Evie and Paranormalcy within the first couple pages, and I wanted to have that same feeling in Supernaturally. But Supernaturally brought a lot of angst–too much, in my opinion–and I found myself wanting to throttle Evie more than anything. It almost seemed that something fundamental about Evie changed between books, and it was a change that I did not like. Don’t get me wrong, I wanted to love this book, and huggle Evie and Tasey. But I just didn’t.

The introduction of a new character, while necessary for the overall plot line, grated on my nerves and put me on edge for the majority of the book. I will go so far as to say that the ending did save it from driving me completely bonkers, however. But the ending wasn’t enough to pull me through my disappointment over Evie as a character. Though it did take me from not wanting to pick up Endlessly to being curious to see where the story goes. So while Supernaturally didn’t quite work for me, I do want to find out what happens in Endlessly.

In this book, we also learn a bit more about Evie and why she is what she is. I don’t know how I feel about it, exactly. This is probably one of those aspects that will either be made or broken in the next book. At the very least, however, it was interesting. I am not sure how it all works (same with all that movement around the fey world), but I would like to give it a chance to get it all figured out in my head. I would like to understand.

Those who are hardcore YA fans and who don’t mind a little angst may enjoy this better than I did. It’s definitely not time to give up on this series. But Supernaturally just didn’t quite live up to the high expectations that Paranormalcy set.

After Paranormalcy, Evie is trying to live a normal life. She has an apartment with a vampire. She works as a waitress at a diner run by a tree. Her boyfriend is basically made of water. See, normal. Well, as normal as she can get. However, when the fairies start taking a special interest in her and the IPCA (International Paranormal Containment Agency) wants her back on the team, she doesn’t know what mess she is getting herself into. With a returning cast of great characters and a few new ones, Supernaturally is the sequel that I enjoyed (maybe not as much as the first, but very close).

Paranormalcy was the highlight of my summer last year. With its humorous takes on a teenager trying to deal with creatures that go bump in the night and being normal, White made something that should be read by every young adult. If you’ve read Paranormalcy, why haven’t you read Supernaturally yet? I know I was asking myself the same question. I didn’t know how much I missed Evie and her hilarious narrative until I had the second book in my hands.

All the awesome characters from before are back. Evie, my favorite character, has returned as narrator and is awesome. No matter what trouble she is in, she always finds a way for some comic relief to seep through into the narrative. White had me laughing through most of the book, even during some of the serious scenes, something would crack me up. Then, of course, Evie’s boyfriend, Lend is back. Lend is going to college and is absent through a lot of the book. However, the scenes he is in, he takes center stage and I love that. There is always some subplot going on with him that adds some extra what’s going to happen to that, now feel. A few new characters are introduced. One in particular is Jack, a crazy boy who likes to jump on beds and pop people’s bubbles. He is a wonderfully drawn character. In the end, when it all came together, Jack was put into a new light and I hope there is more of him in the third book Endlessly, because I don’t think I have had enough of him yet. He is one of those characters that you love to have around even though he may be extremely annoying.

White knows how to make a story. She is not done yet, with the third book coming out soon. I hope this series keeps going for a while. I want to know what Evie is doing right now. Yes, White writes so well that instead of reading the book, I feel like I am immersed in the story, so much so that it is as if I am having my own conversation with Evie about her life.

The ending threw me off because it didn’t feel like an ending. I realize that there is going to be a third one but I felt like I was watching one of those episodes on television and having it say “to be continued.” I was disappointed in the ending because there were so many loose ends, and I wanted to know where White was going with this. There are so many questions I have and I just hope that they are answered in Endlessly.

Where Paranormalcy brought a fresh new look on catching those creatures of the night (not just vampires), Supernaturally is a sequel with sass that will leave you dying to get your hands on the third.

I absolutely loved Paranormalcy when I read it last year. I thought it was tremendously well written and so funny that it had me in stitches. I was dying to read Supernaturally when it came out, and had extremely high expectations. Some of those expectations were met, but some, however, were not.


The plot of Supernaturally is fast paced, just like Paranormalcy, and the action kicks off in the first few pages when Evie gets attacked by a cloud. Well, it's not really a cloud, but it looks just like one! Kiersten White hasn't lost her touch, because this book is hilarious, although I did find a couple of the lines to be a bit awkward.


Evie was badass, of course. She finds out a lot of stuff about her heritage and her 'abilities', and I cant wait to see how she handles this in Endlessly. Evie does do some pretty stupid stuff in this book, like lying to and keeping things from her boyfriend, Lend. That annoyed me, and I hope that this is something her character will outgrow as she matures in the next book in the series.


Lend wasn't really in this book as much as I hoped he would be, which is disappointing. I don't really have much to say about him, because he didn't really do much apart from moan and nag.


Reth is also in this book, and despite not liking him at all in Paranormalcy, I thought he was pretty awesome in this book! Not that he isn't still a little creepy but... I want to see more of him!


If you've been reading other reviews on this book, then you'll be aware that there is a new character called Jack. I loved Jack. He's hilarious. He seems to have some form of ADHD or something, because he never sits still and he's always playing around. I love him.


The bad guy in this book was a little obvious, and I knew who it would turn out to be from the first few chapters. That said, this didn't spoil the book, because I wanted to find out WHY they were the villain and why they were doing these things to Evie.


Overall, whilst I didn't enjoy Supernaturally as much as the first book in the trilogy, I still loved it and think that this is a trilogy that everyone needs to read at some point! (I also really, really love this cover!)

I think I liked the first book better. This had many of the problems you find in a 2nd book of a trilogy. I wanted so see more of the romance that was seen in book 1. There is a very good twist at the end of book 2 that will usher in book 3. I am looking forward to seeing how that plays out.

This was a very exciting and interesting installment of the Paranormalcy series! Evie was a little bit whiny at times, but I could still get her, and even get why she was whiny. Lend was just awesome! The best boyfriend Evie could find for sure.

Arianna finally opened up to Evie, and I think that was part of what helped Evie grow, and finally see what is important and what is not.

Jack was a funny nut-case. (show spoiler)[And he ended up showing that he was a lot more nuts than all the fairies we've encountered in this series!!] (hide spoiler) . Some parts of the plot I figured out in advance, but that took nothing away from the suspense, nor from the excellent way things were described, and what happened to get there. Great book, full of excitement and new information, as well as some romance, and search for something more normal.

I read an ARC, so I don't know that this review 100% checks with the final published version, but here's what I thought anyway:

I didn't love this one quite as much as the first, but it's still good. The sort of book you barely need a bookmark for because you don't want to stop reading; until about 3/4 of the way through when you wish it wouldn't end. Evie has a great voice making this one of the few first-person novels I actually enjoy. She's sassy and petulant and smart and confused making her authentic and charming. Lend is an awesome boyfriend, which isn't surprising if you've read [b:Paranormalcy|7719245|Paranormalcy (Paranormalcy, #1)|Kiersten White|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1302502265s/7719245.jpg|6949381].

It's the characters that kept me reading feverishly because they are so much fun and interesting, even when they're screwing everything up. But the screwing things up is what makes it an engaging book. And it's funny; not a lot of books make me laugh out loud and certainly not so often.
