Maybe being cursed isn't all that cracked up to be?
Mina Grime, aka Mina Grimm
Mina Grime has lived her whole life without knowing who she indeed was. That is until the fateful day when the family curse finally catches up to her. See, Mina has been unlucky her entire life and keeps telling herself that she's just cursed. Without genuinely knowing that she is cursed. Both she and her little brother are cursed. Well, that is unless Mina can break the curse. Mina must finish all the fairy tales that her ancestors started but never finished. Each Grimm that the curse has Chosen needs to complete the tales. Mina as a character is fantastic. I understood her insecureness and the way that she is. She is a teenager written during 2012/2013, and I remember what it was like being a teenager in high school who didn't have many friends.
The Story
Mina Grime is pushed into a world where a paranormal entity forces each Grimm descendant Chosen to finish. But there is a catch that I won't say because you need to read the book. It's a great book that makes you think, what if I happened to be in Mina's shoes and this whole thing happened to me? I would have reacted the same way and been reacting the same way each time a new fairy tale story popped into my life.
Five Stars
UnEnchanted by Chanda Hahn is the first book in the Unfortunate Fairy Tale series. I can't wait to pop back into to see what else happens for poor Mina Grimm. Oh, oops, Mina Grime, as her whole school knows her as. I think that Ms. Hahn has done a fantastic job with this series, which is excellent. Hopefully, everything works out well for Mina and her brother.
I am giving this book five stars and a recommendation to anyone that likes a YA Fairy Tales Folklore Fantasy type book.
