This is a really well-written book and I like the author's take on transforming the traditional faerie tales. I enjoyed the read but really find myself disappointed at the end because of the lack of closure. This is clearly the first in an on-going series and handles that transition well, but as a reader these types of endings leave me frustrated. Even with a series I prefer each book to have some satisfying sense of ending, rather than just feeling like the pause button has been pressed. Unfortunately this is becoming a common trend in fiction these days and not necessarily a flaw, so don't take this as a criticism of the author's skill at storytelling or writing, those talents are clearly established with this book. My preference in endings is a personal taste. I love on-going series but feel much happier when each book can also stand on its own as a complete an satisfying adventure. Too much is left unresolved here and the way the author has set up the premise of the book, it seems it is likely meant to be a LONG series.

Well worth the read, though.
