UnEnchanted had my attention from the get-go because of Mina, the main character. She's so clumsy and accident prone, which I know all about. In just the first chapter, her clumsy nature shines through and made me love her. I also got a glimpse of her family - including a little brother, Charlie, who doesn't speak (should be able to, but never has - it's something the doctors don't fully understand) and a mother, Sarah - and knew I would love them too.

But after that first little bit, it took me a while to really want to sit down and read UnEnchanted. Partly because I just was in an audiobook mood and partly because I was busy with Christmas preparations.

When I finally focused on reading UnEnchanted, I ended up really enjoying it - though little things made it somewhat frustrating at times. There were little details that just didn't work for me - like why is the richest boy in the state going to the same public school as one of the poorest?

Thankfully, some of the things that just don't jive find an explanation towards the end (but not all of them), which was unexpected and nice. So stick with it on some of those eye-roll moments.

What made UnEnchanted really enjoyable, besides the characters, was the somewhat unique spin on the fairy tales and the Grimm brothers. I don't want to spoil it for you, so I'll just say it was fun and kept me guessing the whole time.

That's the main reason I plan to continue this series - I love being kept on my toes and guessing things. The way it ended I'm already super curious about the next book (but its not really a cliff hanger). I also appreciated that, despite being YA and having a very high school setting, Unenchanted never felt overly angsty or immature.

I'm really glad UnEnchanted was selected for My TBR read and look forward to continuing the series. Now that things are explained, I expect it will only get better.
