I don’t want to give too much away about the plot for those who haven’t read the other books in the series, but suffice to say it answered all the questions that needed to be answered, and Lynne Doran got what was coming to her!!! How that happens, well, you’ll have to read the book. All I will say about the plot is that there are things that happen that are unexpected. Y’know in Harry Potter & The Order of the Phoenix when all was going really, really well, and Harry and co. were winning and the Sirius dies? Yeah, that. Pierce throws in some very surprising deaths, so you were warned. In a way, it’s expected – this is witch-y war and casualties are expected, but, on the other hand, not the people that died. I didn’t expect them to perish, and it was very, very sad. It was very much a novel filled with the war between the good guys and the bad guys, and you never actually know who will prevail, though one side does.
The 666 Park Avenue series as a whole has been a good ride. Not perfect. The back story of the witches was, at times, confusing and could have done with being dumbed-down a bit more just to make it simpler to follow (or, for their to be a family-tree map in each book); The Dark Glamour could have been a bit more than a mere filler, but mostly, I enjoyed the series. I think this is the end of the series, although to be fair, the series could continue in a way, perhaps not in a magical-war kind of way, but perhaps as a normal Chick Lit novel? I found the end satisfying, though, so there’s no real need for any more 666 Park Avenue novels. I’d like to see Pierce write more books, though, as she’s a really good writer. If you’re a fan of supernatural goings-on, then this is the series for you and it’s a series well worth reading. The Lost Soul was a very satisfying ending to the series, and I will admit, after three novels and so much drama, I am sort of sad to bid farewell to Jane and co., they were really great characters to follow, but it’s nice to finish the series, nice to see Jane’s war with the Doran’s come to an end.
