I picked this book up on a whim a few years ago. It was on sale for $0.79, I liked the cover and the blurb drew me in. I hadn't really read any urban fantasy prior to this but I've always loved fantasy and the idea of a more grown up fantasy grabbed me. And it was perfect. Everything I expected and so much more. I proceeded to demolish the remaining available books and Shannon Mayer has fast become one of my favourite authors. All of the books are full of fast paced, well written plots, hysterically funny lines and lots of heart. The characters worm their way under your skin until you're cheering with them at their successes and sobbing with them at their failures. Couldn't recommend the series more highly and will certainly be rereading many many times.


In this one, Rylee and Alex set out to rescue India. Rylee meets Eve and O'Shea gets his first introduction to magic. I love Rylee and Alex.

I enjoyed this first book in the series. I almost didn't read it becuase of some of the reviews, but since it was a free read for kindle prime, I gave it a chance. I think the beginning is a little clunky and I can see why it got some of the negative reviews it did. But overall I enjoyed the book with it's plot and main characters.

I put the second book on my to read list. I figure I'll give it a chance and see if the artist fixed some of her writing issues in the second book.
