Straight people should have to come out too. And the more awkward it is, the better.
Simon Spier is sixteen and trying to work out who he is - and what he's looking for.
But when one of his emails to the very distracting Blue falls into the wrong hands, things get all kinds of complicated.
Because, for Simon, falling for Blue is a big deal ...
It's a holy freaking huge awesome deal.

Simon was adorable. 110% of myself wanted nothing more than his complete and total happiness. I liked Simon. I liked Simon a lot. I wanted to sit and watch his antics and frustrations and being human all day long. Every time I sat down with this book, it hooked me. So much love, honestly.
It is a really quick read. Legit, I sat down to read a couple chapters because I had a smidge of downtime and read the entire rest of the book. The dialogue is quick and fun and witty.
I liked it.
It was a light read that dealt with coming out in a very respectful way. I'm straight, so I cannot begin to understand the struggles of coming out, but I got the impression that Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda was very thoughtful and respectful and even though some people are total toolbags, that's the world. I think Becky did a great job.
I'm very much looking forward to reading Leah on the Offbeat.
That's all I have to say. It was sweet, adorable, heartwarming and lovely. Totally recommended.

Overall: I'm almost scared to read another book by Becky Albertalli because I'm worried I won't ever love and want to hug a character as much as I just want to reach into the pages and squeeze Simon. Major props to an author who created a character who is certain to be topping "my bookish bff" lists for years to come. This review was originally posted on Girl in the Pages

This was a reread for me, I HAD to reread it before going to see Love Simon on Wednesday. I thought I'd give the audiobook a try, as I'd heard good things, and I wasn't disappointed. The narrator was fantastic, he just felt like Simon to me and it was quite authentic. He had the tone down perfectly and the voices of the other characters were also done really well.
This book was every bit as good as the first time and I really can't fault it. I adore all of the characters with every bit of my heart, and it was an absolute joy to read. Albertalli has a way of writing swoony YA with all the feels, and it feels super relatable - even for a straight woman who left her teen years behind a long time ago. To quote Simon, I can't even - 5 stars.

Don’t you think everyone should have to come out? Why is straight the default? Everyone should have to declare one way or another, and it should be this big awkward thing whether you’re straight, gay, bi, or whatever. I’m just saying.
— An adorable and funny book about coming out. Loved the cute romance and how the main character had such a strong support system.

I got lost in Simon’s world and would happily go back and get lost again.
Simon is freaking adorable and I thoroughly enjoyed watching him struggle, fumble and come out on top. FIVE STARS for this must read adorable feel good story.
