As always, Pure Blooded is a fast paced and exciting installment to this series. Jessica has just returned from the Underworld, and now it's time to take out those rabid wolves! Jessica and Company are on their way to the Florida Everglades when their plane crashes. It looked like a mechanical failure, but it felt magical, so obviously something is up. There's no time to stand around and think on it though, they have to get moving before the wolves find them. Especially when Marcy reveals that the wolves are being controlled by a voodoo sorceress.
Pure Blooded felt like one and a half books to me. I was very into the first half, since it's nonstop action and magical stuff! It is quite info-dumpy in places, since Marcy tries cramming an entire lifetime of witch knowledge into a few hours, but at least it was interesting and useful information. But what I really liked was that it was mostly just Jess and Marcy: BFFs fighting evil! That was awesome! Then they beat evil, and I still had half of the book left, so what's next?
Of course, Jess has to discover a new ability she has, since there seems to be no end to her power. She also learns more about her place in this prophecy as well as the Coalition. But before she can step up, she has to stop whatever force has been after her and setting up all of these crazy, magical obstacles in her way. There's a higher power at work here and it wants Jess dead because of reasons! Things are tense, Jess and Company are taking a little break to regroup and figure out what to do next, there some sexy times, and then....The End. What?!
Pure Blooded just ends. Not even on a cliffhanger really. It just stops, and nothing is resolved! We don't even know what the plan is yet other than to find a certain someone! I'm kind of frustrated, but as always, I'm excitedly awaiting more!
