My opinion of this brand-new series will differ vastly from the many fans of the Iron Fey world. As you know based on my review of Shadow’s Legacy, I am an Iron Fey newbie so I am looking at this world through a fresh pair of eyes and by golly I had a wonderful experience.

The story followed the events in Shadow’s Legacy. The land of the Fey is at risk. Something ominous is lurking in the Shadows and it’s up to Robin Goodfellow aka Puck and his friends to find a solution to ending this threat. However, they will discover that ridding their kingdom of this threat would not be as easy as they thought.

I had a wonderful time interacting with the characters. Puck lived up to his name of being a prankster. He had many facets, and it was fun discovering them all. Fun, charming and entertaining. He had me laughing out around many times throughout the story. I loved how the author delved into his past. I learnt of his struggles in the past. How he loved and lost and how the sound of his name struck fear in others.

Nyx, a Forgotten moon elf, whom I had the pleasure of meeting in the prequel, was such a badass. Her memories of her past were bleak, but she never forgot her skills as an assassin and her allegiance to the Queen of the Forgotten. On learning the Queen was dead, her allegiance switched to protecting Keirran. Hence her purpose on this mission. Fearless, strong and determined, and the perfect match for Puck.

The supporting cast added their special blend of magic to the story. Grimalkin made my day. His actions and responses while it infuriated Puck had me laughing my head off.

Each character was dealing with their own personal struggles while trying to fight off the threat to the Fey kingdom.

Puck and Nyx may not have shared romantic moments, not that there was time available for such things. However, the sparks between them burned brightly. I am looking forward to see how their relationship progresses.

A fast-paced read, Iron Raven had me flipping the pages. It took me on a magical journey where danger abound in every corner.

I loved the world the author created and found myself completely caught up in it. I couldn’t get enough of it.

All in all this was a fabulous start to this new series. It was a great way for older fans to dive back into this awesome world and catch up with favourite characters.

Fans of Julie Kagawa's The Iron Fey rejoice! As she's about to throw us back into that world, with the start of a new series: The Iron Raven is the first of The Iron Fey: Evenfall. Better yet? It seems to be focused on the one and only, Puck!

Robin Goodfellow, aka Puck, is pretty good at creating a good time for himself. Yet he's also never been one to turn down an adventure, no matter how dangerous it may appear to be. So is it really any surprise that he's about to get wrapped up in a whole new series of events? Nope.

Puck is about to find old enemies and allies, while making new ones, and it all starts when some fey go missing. Isn't that always the way of things?

“A long time ago,” I began in a grand voice, “in a galaxy far, far away...Wait, hold up. Wrong story. Lemme try that again.”

I have to admit, it's been pretty fascinating seeing so many authors return to worlds and series that the fans have thought were long complete. Not that I'm complaining! Some of my favorites are being revived, so it's actually quite delightful.

I do love that Julie Kagawa is making her return in a new series, even if it is set in the same world. It's going to be approachable for both fans new and old – though obviously the longer running fans are going to get a lot more appreciation, not to mention nostalgia vibes.

Additionally, Puck taking the leading role is pretty amazing. He's a character that certainly deserves it, as he is shockingly complex while still being an overall high spirited (albeit chaotic) character.

The Iron Raven was a quick and fun read, one that features familiar fey as well as new fey, both in name and type. That alone was enough to make it a fascinating read for me. There were some really interesting elements mixed up within all of that as well, many of which forced further character development.

Long story short: The Iron Raven is a great read, it hasn't aged up all that much from the original series, and that's not a bad thing. It's fun and sweet at times, while still having that bit of sharper edge that fans have come to know and expect. I think that her fans are going to really enjoy this latest installment!

In this wonderful new additon to the wonderful fey tales from Julie Kagawa we get the opprtunity to see more of the iron realm, hang out with the amaing characters you know and love from the series. In this series Puck (robin goodfellow) gets to take center stage it the novel perfect for the start of 2021.
