Safe House has a darker tone than previous books in the Vanished/1-800-Where-R-You series. While Jess was on vacation, Amber Mackey, a cheerleader, went missing and was later found dead and Jess is blamed for not being able to find Amber in time. When another cheerleader is kidnapped, Jess sees this as a chance to redeem herself and tries to stop another murder from happening.

⛈️ Jess is a fantastic main character. She's smart, spunky and sassy. In Safe House, Jess dresses more fashionably and tries to control her violent tendencies. It's nice to read about her willingness to grow and develop.
⛈️ The mystery is extremely predictable and it's pretty easy to figure out whodunit.
⛈️ However, the story is entertaining and it's interesting to read about how Jess processes and deals with the information that she has in order to find the missing people and the murderer.
⛈️ The events that occur after Jess figures out whodunit is hilarious and entertaining. Serious things occur, but it's told in such a comical manner.
⛈️ Karen Sue Hankey is such a pain.
⛈️ Rob is a lovable and caring guy.
⛈️ I love the Mastriani family dynamics. We get to see more Mastriani family interactions and Jess's family seems so real.
⛈️ I'm also a fan of Jess's FBI sass. I'm interested to see just how serious Dr Krantz is about recruiting Jess to work for the FBI
