Just as Jane Jameson's unlife seems to be stabilizing, fate sinks its fangs firmly into her butt. Despite her near-phobia of wedding planning, her no-frills nighttime nuptials to her sexy boyfriend, Gabriel, are coming along smoothly. That is, until she turns a fatally wounded teenage acquaintance, and the Council pronounces her responsible for the newborn vamp until he can control his thirst.

My Initial Reaction...
These books always bring me to tears with laughter and Nice Girls Don't Bite their Neighbors was no exception!
The Narration...
I know you've got to be tired of hearing me say it, but for anyone who hasn't heard me yet I'll say it again. Amanda Ronconi is an incredible narrator. I would (and have) pick up a book just because she's narrating it. She brings the wit and snarkiness of her characters to life perfectly and I always the variety of voices for all the different characters. You can't go wrong with Amanda!
The Characters...
I just adore these characters. I connect with Jane so easily - she's a book worm living the dream, running her own bookstore. *sigh* Oh and did I mention that she's finally marrying her sire - Gabriel? It took me a while to fall for Gabriel but his proposal finally brought me over to his side. He's always been a bit removed from the rest of the group in my opinion, but in this book he finally seems to be part of the drama.
Of course, right in the thick of the drama are Dick Cheney and his wife Andrea. Gah, I love these two! They're like the poster children for opposites attract and every minute with them is hilarious. There are no words for how ridiculous Dick is and Andrea is as witty and smart as Jane, so what's not to love?
I have to admit to being a bit disappointed with how little we see of Jane's best pre-turn friend, Zeb, his wife Jolene, Jane's Aunt Jetti and Mr. Wainwright. These are four of my favorite characters and, while they were still there, they've definitely started moving on and living their own lives. When it mattered most, though, they were all right there in the middle of things and supporting Jane - who seems to have the worst luck of any vampire, ever.
And then there's the two newest additions to the gang - Jane's sister, who I not only love but am so glad to see not fighting with Jane anymore, and Jaime - Jane's "son." Throwing in Jaime was a lot of fun for the story - even if a bit predictable. Dealing with a teenage vampire is about as fun as dealing with a teenage boy - full of hilarious embarrassing moments and food/blood shortages.
The Story...
Jane's life is just so complicated, nothing ever is simple for her. It would help if someone wasn't always trying to kill her. This time, she's trying to plan her wedding (with a period theme! Loved it!) and all the while she and Gabriel keep having near death experiences. The first one earned her the hatred of the entire town and a new son, further complicating (and enriching) the story. The level of mystery is pretty much non-existent, since from pretty early on you know what's up. But that's not the point of these books, in my opinion. The point is watching Jane and the gang trip all over themselves as they try to figure out who's out to get them. Let dumb plans, witty banter, and disastrous fall out ensue. For me, the most epically hilarious moment of Nice Girls Don't Bite their neightbors was when they finally found who was behind it all. It was so ridiculous that I couldn't help but laugh, hysterically - despite being on the bus.
Concluding Sentiments...
This was a very satisfying conclusion to the Jane Jameson series. I laughed so hard I cried, and a couple times, I cried for reals (which was totally unexpected for this series). I'll miss this crazy gang, but I'm really happy with where Molly Harper left us.

Jane finally accepts Gabriel’s proposal. She’s denied him about five or six times previously, so he is quite glad to have her accept finally. However, things really take an interesting turn when Jamie Lanier, a teenager she used to babysit and who now delivers milk to the store, is hit by a car and killed. Jane fulfills his request to turn him as he lays dying in her arms. Dick and Andrea were there at the time and were able to confirm this to the Council. Unfortunately for Jamie, his parents don’t handle his vampirism very well. This was particularly sad because he’s still only just a boy and wants his mum and dad, and even his sister, to love him. The parts of the novel that involved this particular plot were really well handled.
This book made me laugh the most out of all four in the series, our girl got her happily-ever-after and it was entirely plausible. The paralels to things that could happen to anybody throughout the series make it really readable. I was really glad to see that Jane was getting along with both her mother and her sister, due to some major airing of grieveances between the sisters in the previous book. There was also some major effort on behalf of Jane mother to ensure both her girls realise how much she loves them.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes paranormal/supernatural humor with some romance as well. I gave it 4 1/2 stars.

Jane is finally settling into a normal routine with her vampire life. Gabriel has moved into her home, River Oaks, she has her fabulous friends and her book shop, and her relationship with her mother and sister is in the best place it's ever been. Add in the fact that she finally said yes to Gabriel's marriage proposal and she should be on top of the world. Unfortunately with Jane, that never seems to happen.
Jane soon finds herself the sire to young Jamie Lanier, who was fatally wounded when a runaway car hit him before barreling into Jane's car. As his sire, she now finds herself mothering a teenage vampire while trying to deal with her Grandma Ruthie haunting her in hopes of getting her out of River Oaks and her mother going overboard planning a wedding.
There are many laugh out loud moments in this one. You feel like such a part of this group that you can't help but laugh when Dick makes some snarky comment about Jane and Gabriel or Jane gets a dig into her mother or sister. What made this even better was the fact that Jane and Gabriel's relationship was on solid ground. Together they make everything better.
If you haven't ready the previous three books, definitely do it before you pick this one up. But if you want a paranormal book that is fun and will having you laughing at and along with a group of fabulous characters, this is definitely grab the series.

There were a few twists and turns that made me snicker, because I didn't see it coming. However, this series keeps having just too much drama for me to give it more stars. I get that relationship drama, as well as outside drama can move the story forward, however, there are so many great characters in this series that it wouldn't be absolutely necessary. Andrea and Dick are excellent friends to both Jane and Gabriel, as are Jolene and Zeb, so there are enough story to move things forward without falling back on plot driven drama in each installment.
It's like when I start a 'Jane' book, I know someone is going to try to kill either her or someone she loves, she'll get in trouble with the vampire council, and her mom will meddle.
That being said, there are a lot of funny lines, and I love Jane's sense of humour, so I certainly will continue to buy and read this series in the future.
