Wow! Mafi didn't waste any time pulling me back into this crazy world. Now that the dust has settled, Juliette has to learn to connect with the other leaders, and they are not being particularly hospitable. There was quite a bit of Juliette struggling with her new role, and Warner trying to find his place in the new regime, while attempting to balance his past and his relationship with Juliette. But, Waner's past came back with a vengeance. Some BIG secrets involving Juliette were revealed, and the children of the rulers came to town with not the best intentions.

I really liked meeting all Warner's peers, and cannot wait to get to know some of them better. A few appear to play a really major role in Juliette's story, and seriously. Way to dump so major stuff on me right before the ending!!! I was left with my mouth hanging open, and a serious need for the next book.

Though some things happened in this book, which left me broken hearted, I find solace in the fact, that there are two more books to come in which Mafi can fix all this stuff.

Super fast read. I liked it but it also reminded me of everything I don’t like about these books. Because they’re all emotion and NOTHING happens. Literally one thing happens - halfway through the book - and then it’s all the emotional repercussions and then the end.

Theres a lot of talk about international politics and threats but it’s clear, again about halfway through, that nothing is going to come of it because there aren’t enough pages for anything to happen or for any sort of revelation.

Still, Warner is a great character and his pov chapters are interesting. He makes what little story there is worth reading. Juliette is still dumb but she’s not as annoying because she recognizes that she’s wildly unqualified, that being invulnerable doesn’t mean she’s capable of running a country or being a leader. The never ending Juliette has massive powers and can slaughter a bunch of people in all new ways is kind of stupid and really annoying. Also Mafi is bad about introducing elements into the story that she never picks back up, liked the drugged bullets. Why were they drugged? With what? Why did it affect Juliette the way it did? Why spend time on it if it doesn’t matter to the story?. Kenji is cool, as always. Adam is interesting again, what little there is of him. And I’m curious how James will grow and what will become of him.

But we’re not going to get to see that because Mafi tells very narrow stories all about invincible Juliette which is not as interesting as she thinks it is. Warner is the saving grace in this series.

I absolutely love the original 'Shatter Me' series and was so excited when 'Restore Me' was announced. I know sometimes when authors decided to continue a series years after it ended uts not as good. But Tahereh Mafi did an amazing job! I love seeing the characters again and seeing them begin to grow. And all the secrets and ties brought up about their pasts. That ending was so good and I'm so anxious to get the next book!

Let’s start with 2 premises:
- I love politics in books. LOVE. So when a book has a political angle I demand it’s well thought and well developed
- One of my most hated tropes in YA is when all the world is in the hands of a bunch of teenagers

With that said, you can understand that I had many - MANY - problems with this book.
Juliette as a leader is laughable at best. She doesn’t know the first thing about politics and society and economy and she doesn’t do shit to learn anything. She just complains all the time and she always thinks she’s not the right person for the job (yes, love, you are not).
Her council is a bunch of teenagers with zero experience and zero competence (I cringed a lot while reading every single diplomatic encounter Kenji and Juliette made throughout this book).
So, yeah, I rolled my eyes a lot and I hated how simplistic political issues were portrayed ... but I also liked a lot of other things.
The writing style is great. Not as lyrical as the first trilogy but still very effective.
I loved the interactions between the main characters and I really liked the last 20% of this book.
The best part was the new characters, especially Nazeera. I want to read an entire book about her. I hope to get more Valentina, Nicolas and Lena in future books.
Loved the ending. I think 3 stars is a fair rating.

Woooow... that ending.... I NEED THE NEXT BOOK RIGHT NOW !!!

It felt like the book just picked up right where she left us a couple of years ago, it felt so familiar and good to be reading more about this world and it's inhabitants.
It makes sense in a way, the story is not over just because you won. The hardest part comes after.. and woow.. did she manage to make it even more spectaculair... so many things happened and are still going to happen.. wooow...

I really like that she is going to continue with this series, it is one of my favorites ever and after finishing this one... Damn.. give me the next book !!

I'm unsure how to review this book, so I think I'm just going to divide it into pros and cons.

Pros:
- Tahereh Mafi's writing is as raw and beautiful as ever.
- Hearing from Warner's perspective was great. Getting to see inside his mind really added to the story.
- The introduction of the other commandants' children was cool.

Cons:
- The plot seemed a little scattered or vague to me. Looking back, not a lot happened in this book plot-wise. It lacked major story beats.
- There were times when I felt like the protagonists acted a little out-of-character. For instance, I don't think Juliette would've reacted so explosively toward Warner after his confession. Not given how much the previous books have built up her understanding of him and how messed up his childhood was.
- Some of the plot developments felt a little...off to me. Juliette has a sister? She's the daughter of the Oceania commandant? It all just felt a little too thrown in. Like, I thought we were making toast, but now all of a sudden you've tossed in an egg and some sugar and now were suddenly making french toast. (I'm not sure that sentence makes any sense.) Especially the whole "Juliette and Warner knew each other before" surprise. That felt like a curveball straight out of left field - and not a believable one.

Overall, I loved getting to see Juliette, Warner, and Kenji again. Although I didn't love Restore Me as much as the original three books, I will of course be picking up the sequel when it comes out.
