The character developing is a little slow, but I really like the different POVs. One thing that perhaps could be less confusing was the passage of time, it's a little confusing to gauge how much time has passed since the first book.
That aside it is a great book.

This is the second book in the Black Magician's Trilogy and is also a re-read for me.

The story picks up a short while after Sonea was taken under Rothen's guardianship and begins with her becoming a Novice. As well as the new lessons, she has to contend with less than pleasant classmates and also the secret she discovered at the end of The Magician's Guild.

Once again, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story flowed fluidly and dragged me along with it, desperate to discover the next twist. The characters continued to develop and I liked the addition of Tayend. There continued to be a balance of both good and bad, both overt and less obvious within the book, adding to the atmosphere. I would have liked to learn more about Akkarin but if I remember right, that's saved til the last book.

I can't wait to read the next one and finish the series!
