I love Victoria Dahl, she’s such a wonderful author – her novels are hugely romantic, super hot, and I love her characters, not to mention the Jackson setting! I was super excited when she announced her new series of novels were a contination of her Jackson books and I loved the short novella Fanning The Flames which introduced us to Lauren, and also Sophie, who is the heroine of Looking For Trouble. I was super excited to dive in, and I absolutely loved Sophie and Alex! Of the four Dahl novels I’ve read and two novellas, I think they’re my favourites!

Looking For Trouble probably has my favourite of all the Dahl’s storylines. I quite like a Romeo & Juliet-type tale where two members of rival families fall in love, there’s something so awesome about the secrecy and it just increases the romantic tension ten-fold and I felt the chemistry dripping off the page as soon as Alex and Sophie met! I loved Sophie’s bookish charm, which wraps up her naughty side just as she likes it, and I liked how Alex brought out that other side of her that she kept from everyone else. I also loved Alex, as soon as I saw he was drunk at 11am I was entranced. I loved his motorbike-riding, tattoo-ed persona. Yum. Sign me up for one of those, please and even best he’s Shane’s brother! Shane from Too Hot To Handle. It was super exciting to see Shane and Merry again, and I kept a look out for anyone else from previous books but that was all!

It was very interesting to dive into the back story of Alex and Sophie’s families. It’s touched on a bit during Shane’s book and I’d forgotten it until it was brought back up, but Alex’s dad and Sophie’s mom ran away together, and it’s something that’s rumbled through Jackson for 25 years, not helped by the fact that Alex’s mom just cannot let go – it made me so sad to see someone so hung up on something that happened so long ago and it annoyed me that she blamed Sophie for something that was not her fault at all – she was only 5 when her mom left! It added a more serious tone to the novel and I loved it. But I also loved the playful stuff too, which is always super nice. Alex and Sophie have such great chemistry, such great banter and I loved their time together, it was hot and sweet and super swoonworthy.

Once again, Victoria Dahl has hit it out of the park with Looking For Trouble. I absolutely loved it from first page to last, and I finished it just a mere few hours after I had started it – the perfect way to spend an afternoon off work. I loved getting to know Sophie and Alex and I loved seeing Shane and Merry again (yay for Shane & Merry) and I loved the more serious note along with the fun and flirty stuff you come to expect from a Dahl novel. I can’t wait for her next “Girl’s Night Out” book, which is the name of her new series and I’m hoping Sophie’s friend Isabelle is the heroine of the next book – she’s the only one left of the trio without a tale to her name! Looking For Trouble is the most fun read, it’s always such a wonderful time when I know there’s a new Victoria Dahl to read – and I can’t wait for the next one!!
