When I chatted with Victoria at RT15, she told me that her newest Jackson: Girls Night Out story featured a 26 year-old virgin, and I slightly winced at that... however, she totally pulled it off! Veronica was an amazing heroine, and Gabe of the hot oral-sex made me fluttery, and all hot and bothered just by reading about him!

I love Victoria Dahl. I've been a massive fan of her books for ages now, and she seems to get better with every book. Taking The Heat absolutely flew by, as I read it at the speed of light, and it was so much fun. Getting to know Veronica and Gabe was SUCH a pleasure. They were both such interesting, fabulous characters. I loved Veronica in particular, because she could easily be someone I could be friends with and I loved her Dear Veronica column - and I was very pleased her "secret" wasn't as horrific as I thought.

Gabe, though! Man, oh man. He's a librarian (!!!!!!!!) but he's also the most sweetest hero you're ever likely to meet. He and Veronica don't immediately have a spark as Gabe thinks she's a typical Manhattan-ite, but when he realises she's not, the sparks just fly. They were just so good together, so right, ya know? Their chemistry just seemed to easy and relaxed.

This book was just so much fun from start to finish, Victoria is one of the best contemporary romance writers out there. No one can pull off novels like she does and I am in awe at how relaxed and easy her third-person writing style is. I usually find it so hard to get in to, but Victoria writes like a dream. It was also fabulous to see Isabelle and Lauren again, and I look forward to the next Girls Night Out book - if there is one?!? There must be, or at least a new Jackson series, as it's my favourite town in all of America!!!
