I think I’m going to have a hard time reading only one book a month for the #InDeathReadALong Challenge. Someone may have to stop me from picking up the next book in the series before next month because I’m enjoying this futuristic world that J.D. Robb has created.

I’m in love with Eve Dallas for her determination and kick-butt qualities. She takes her police officer job seriously and sometimes forgets to take care of herself. She even pushes away Roarke when he starts showing more feelings than what Eve wants in her life. I almost got mad at Eve for pushing Roarke away. Don’t you dare let go of that man, Eve!! He loves Eve and will do anything for her, and there is so much proof in this book. I love Roarke so much!!

The second book has Eve Dallas as the primary investigator on the murder of a high-profile victim. This victim is well-known in the public eye, and Eve goes after the most likely people that may have wanted her dead until another murder happens to another victim. Eve has to retrace her steps through the first murder to find out who could be the killer. The killer, though, is not making it easy for her.

I enjoyed the mystery in this story and how J.D. Robb had me going back and forth with Eve to find out who could be behind the murders. I figured it out towards the end, but I wanted to know why the killer did it, and the revealing of it was a shock for me.

Let’s also not forget about Roarke and Eve. These two have a connection that is hard to resist. There was a small blip in their relationship in this book though that had me on the edge of my seat. I didn’t want them to give up on each other. I know Roarke wouldn’t give up on Eve, though. 

If you haven’t read this series (like I haven’t until recently), then I recommend you do it soon. Don’t let the 50+ books in the series intimidate you, though. I know it scared me at first, but now I’m excited to read ALL the books in the series and follow Eve and Roarke’s story. I also need more of the secondary characters, too: Feeney, Peabody, Mavis, etc.

Glory in Death kept me just as engaged as the first book! Once again, we find Eve as the primary on a case involving the murder of two women. Their throats were neatly slashed with no other marks on the body and no signs of mugging or defensive. And once again, Roarke can be linked to both of them. Eve knows he didn't do it, but as a cop she has to prove it. Again. While the set up is the same, the case didn't feel like a repeat. I was eager to know who did it and why!

I'm loving how this series seems to be revolving around powerful women thus far. Both of the victims in Glory in Death were well-known women at the top of their careers. Eve herself is the best cop around, and there are other ladies around her that are excellent at their jobs as well. It would seem like the murderer doesn't like that and wants to get rid of them all. I had an inkling of who it was, but wasn't for sure until Eve busted them!

Of course there's more Eve and Roarke in Glory in Death, but it's not all sunshine and rainbows. It's also not over-the-top romance drama. Roarke just wants to be sure of Eve's feelings and not feel used or like she's not taking them seriously. I totally get where he's coming from, but I also totally get Eve. Even though it's only two books in, it's clear that Eve doesn't know how to do relationships. Or really, she doesn't know how to get close to people or be someone other than "a cop." Don't worry, it doesn't get dragged out or turned into some melodrama. They're adults, and they act like it, fix the problem, and move on. They're in this together and I like that.

Glory in Death was a great sequel as well as great as its own mystery. I flew through it in a couple of hours, because I was just hooked! I couldn't put it down! Now to see what comes next for Eve Dallas...

While Glory in Death is the second book in the fantastic In Death series, it is the first I'm writing a review for.Because, reasons.

“In their eyes, Eve saw the wolf gleam. The story was the prey, ratings the trophy.”

The story is set in 2058 - but even in the future, with all the gadgets and advanced knowledge, murder happens, and it's Eve Dallas's job to figure out by whom and bring them to justice. Eve is a strong, dedicated woman who is constantly hard on herself. She takes it on herself to protect and serve those who have been robbed of their life and can no longer be heard.

She is such an inspirational, human character! But she can be a bit hard to deal with on a personal level.

Luckily for her, her soulmate is the powerful, dangerously sexy, multimillionaire, Roarke, who pretty much sees into her soul, and is willing to do anything to make her his in every way, shape or form. He challenges her and makes it his job to take care of Eve when she's too consumed by the dead.

Roarke is seriously one of my biggest book crushes ever. I want one of him.

The romance between these two is not a fairy-tale romance--because it's not perfect, but it's completely real. It has it's ups and downs but ultimately, you never once question the rightness of these two. That they're meant to be. You root for them even when you know it's not necessary because there is just no way there will ever be anyone else for them. No one less demanding could force himself into Eve's heart, and no one less good will be able to convince Roarke to change his path to a more lawful one.

A le sigh.

The only "lacking" part of this story was the murderer. As this is a mystery novel, the frame plot revolves around these atrocious murders. But the villain was easy to spot from the moment he walked onto the page because he was just so suspicious. And he pissed me off big time. 

So, thank you J.D. Robb. I felt very satisfied with what happened to him, in an evil, wicked kind of way *slow clap*

Glory in Death is the second book in the In Death series. I've read the first and liked it a lot, but I didn’t give it a proper review. I didn't know what to say, really.
So far, the In Death series is pretty amazing. I think it has the making of becoming one of my favorite series.

The Plot
The story is set in 2058, an advanced futuristic world. But even in the future, with all the gadgets and advanced knowledge, murder happens – and it's Eve Dallas's job to figure out by whom, and bring them to justice.
Eve is a detective, a cop. And she's good at what she does.
The story begins a few months after NAKED IN DEATH. Eve has become a figure well known to the public, both for cracking the case in Naked in Death and for her relationship with the multimillionaire and prominent figure of Roarke. Now she's expected to solve another tricky case, in which well known and outspoken women are found murdered, their throats slashed.
And cracking this mystery is not going to be easy… at all.

The Characters
Eve Dallas – Eve is a great character. She's a strong, dedicated woman, who feels so much yet seems to think she feels too little. She cares for the victims and invests emotionally in her cases. But Eve is not a white sheet – she has a difficult and horrifying past—one she doesn't even remember fully—and has difficulties with relationship… which makes it hard to be in one with Roarke, even though he knows exactly what to do to ease her up.
She is such a likable character and you can't help but think good things about her! She's also very human. I love her.
Roarke – Roarke is a powerful man. A dangerous man. A mysterious man—and a man who knows exactly what he wants. Or in this case – who. And Eve it is; whole, full, and completely. Because he's also a man who's capable of love, love so strong it sometime scares him.
I didn't like the ultimatum he gave Eve, the all or nothing deal, but I got it and why he did it. And it worked.
Also, I don't like his name xD But I do love him.

Notable Scenes
One of the most amazing scenes in this book is when Eve comes to question Roarke in the middle of the night, about his connections with the second victim. The both of them are still having a fight, and when she goes to leave, she ends up crying, asking him not to do it. Not to leave her.
I wanted to cry when Eve cried. I literally had to stop reading, compose myself, take deep breaths, and only when I was sure I was steady again, I continued to read. That didn't stop my eyes from watering again three seconds after I started reading again, but at this point I realized there's nothing I can do about it – my heart was clenching and it would continue to do so no matter how many times I tried to overcome it.
To see such a strong woman break… I agree with Roarke, it’s quite frightening.
Another scene I was really fond of for completely opposite reasons was the Lagoon Scene. I was grinning so widely while reading that! Roarke embarrassed and blushing, a rare and enjoyable sight.

The Romance
Eve met Roarke in Naked in Death. He was a murder suspect, she the investigating lieutenant. You'd be surprised how love can blossom from such a situation. And blossom it did.
In this book, their relationship is already serious, with Eve spending most of her time in Roarke's. But she's still holding out, and Roarke sets to change it; he wants her to call his home "their home".
goodness the separation didn’t last long. I love those two together. No one less demanding than Roarke would ever be able to force his ways into Eve’s heart.
The romance is pretty perfect, in my idea. Really sweet and cute and lovely.

The Ending
The entire story I was like: it's Morse. I know it is! Please let it be Morse because the guy pissed the hell out of me, and I found him so suspicious. I'd never been happier in my life to be right. Thank you, Roarke, for ridding the world of this guy.
I loved the proposal. Wooho Roarke! Way to go! It was so funny and I loved it!

In Conclusion:
Great book and series, one sure not to disappoint you! I love the romance, the characters, the plot, the writing—everything! Also, I love that this is set in the future, because everything is still so much the same. It goes to prove that human nature would be human nature, sparkly incredible gadgets or not.

This was a re-read for me and it was nice going back to the beginning of Eve and Roarke.

It was interesting reading this early installment in the series, because I’ve read most of the later ones. This is the book that first introduces Peabody (though very lightly), and there are things that happen in this book that I realized are referenced in later books. Also, I noticed that “Eve uses herself as bait” is a theme that reappears often throughout this series. All in all it was pretty good, though the characters aren’t as polished as they are later in the series. But that’s pretty common in a series of this size.
