Summary:
Coco lives in a world where magic exists. Unfortunately, she's no magician. That's the one thing she's desperately wanted to be ever since she was a little girl. However, she has also been told that magicians are born, not made. Until one day, Coco sees something that changes her life. Now, she's a witch in training.
Every day, Coco learns something new about magic. Frequently, she's learning how magic can help everyone around her – she just has to get creative at times. Unfortunately, not everyone views the magic the same way as her.
Review:
Oh wow, Witch Hat Atelier Vol. 8 kinda gave me all the feels. A lot is going on here, and most of it will make you want to hug one character or another (or, you know, all of them at once!). It's the perfect addition to the series.
This volume gets bonus points for delving into the complexities of magic and healing. There are good reasons for outlawing magical healing (we've seen extreme examples of why), but it feels like there should be a middle ground. As this volume shows, drastic laws only make the people with less means suffer.
I also love the creative way in which Coco and her friends view magic. You'll love this volume if you also enjoy that side of the story! Their problem-solving skills were really put to work here in probably their toughest (and most emotional) trial yet.
