Quirky Cat
Summary:
Coco lives in a world where magic exists. Unfortunately, she's no magician. That's the one thing she's desperately wanted to be ever since she was a little girl. However, she has also been told that magicians are born, not made. Until one day, Coco sees something that changes her life. Now she's a witch in training.
Every day Coco strives to improve her magic. It's the only way she can prove herself – and save her mother. Yet there are worlds of secrets she doesn't know, and no amount of rushing will help her reach her goals any faster.
Review:
Okay, I have to admit – this series is growing on me. The cliffhanger in volume 2 hit me hard, and I practically ran to the library to pick up Witch Hat Atelier Vol. 3. I'm so happy I didn't have to wait months for it to release!
As the series goes on, we see several layers to witch society. More specifically, it's becoming clearer that the mess Coco is in the center of is much more complex – and darker – than we initially thought.
I love this additional depth, and I do think the series will do better because of it. Several threads are weaving throughout, and I'm pretty curious/anxious about several of them. Oh! And let us not forget the characters. There was some character growth in this volume, though I still think some classmates could use a little more attention here and there. But I'm sure that will happen soon enough.
