Quirky Cat
Summary:
Coco lives in a world where magic exists. Unfortunately, she's no magician. That's the one thing she's desperately wanted to be ever since she was a little girl. However, she has also been told that magicians are born, not made. Until one day, Coco sees something that changes her life. Now she's a witch in training.
Coco still has a long way to go in her training. Training that may not happen if she and her fellow apprentices don't find a way around the dragon trap they've been thrown into. What can four girls do against a giant dragon? Well, for starters, they can use magic.
Review:
Okay, I must admit that Witch Hat Atelier is growing on me. I wasn't entirely certain at first. But the more I read, the more I like it. Coco is such a cute and passionate character; it's pretty impossible to do anything other than root for her.
There's actually a lot to unpack from Witch Hat Atelier Vol. 2. We have three distinct plots, or perhaps two and a half. There's the dragon plot, which helped the apprentices bond (much appreciated). Then there's the introduction of a new character. And finally, we have the next big twist in the series. I can already tell this one will send Coco down the rabbit hole. Perhaps literally.
The cliffhanger ending of this volume is pretty mean. Luckily I can go pick up the third volume at my local library. I don't know what I would have done if I had to wait months for the next release.
