Several years ago, I started reading this book as I was wandering around a B&N. I always wanted to get my hands on a copy at some point, and I am glad I did.
This book was utterly heartbreaking, as books featuring children with cancer tend to be, but I guess I am grateful, that this wasn't her story. The story was told from the point of view of the best friend, Zoe, and I experienced all her pain, grief, and loss as she watched her lifelong best friend wage war with cancer. It was difficult at times to read this book, but then the friendship would come back into focus, and that really was the heart of this story. I cried many tears, but was thankful for the lovely ending Kantor gave me. It made me cry, but it also made me hopeful.
