One of the things that I find attractive is a man who single-handedly takes care of his child. A man who is willing to give up his carefree lifestyle to ensure that his child has the best of everything. Nash Morgan from Whisper of Love is the epitome of such a man. From the moment I met him, I could not help falling in love with him. Then there was his adorable baby boy Phillip, I just wanted to hug him. The bond between a parent and a child is so profound, and Melissa Foster aptly demonstrated this in her latest installment.

Nash had dedicated his life to taking care of his son as such he rarely had time for inter-personal relationships. This was further compounded by events from his past, which he has yet to come to terms with. These events induced a fear within him that led to him being overprotective of his son. His over-protectiveness led to him, keeping both he and his son in seclusion. Financial constraints would see him making a hard decision, which would lead to him admitting a stranger into his life. Making this decision resulted in him meeting the fiery and cautious Tempest Braden, which would push him beyond his boundaries in ways he never imagined.

Tempest Braeden, a music therapist is looking to take her business in a new direction. To do this she decided to move to Pleasant Hill. Being an overly cautious person, she was a bit hesitant in renting the room that Nash was subletting. However, once she let down her guard and made the choice of being room-mates with a complete stranger, she would learn that sometimes it does pay to throw caution to the wind.

The attraction that Nash and Tempest felt for each other was intense and this was clear from the day they first met, however, fear and pain from the past proved a hindrance. Thankfully, their feelings were stronger than their fears, which led to them discovering the healing power of love.

I enjoyed the story, but the parts that resonated with me was the interaction between Nash and his son. Their moments together were heartwarming and funny. The love they had for each other just rolled off the pages. I understood Nash’s protectiveness when it came to his son, although at times it may seem as if he went a bit overboard. I loved how Tempest was able to blend in with them and in the process helped them to view things in a different light.
One of the things that stand out for me with books written by this author is her portrayal of family and friendships. I love stories that demonstrate the beauty found in close-knit families and friendships that have survived varying obstacles. Ms. Foster has a knack for highlighting these themes in her stories in such a way that one cannot help but wish they were a part of something so beautiful.

Written in the third (3rd) person the story gave both Nash and Tempest’s perspectives. The writing is beautiful, the pacing steady and the descriptions vivid. There were varying ranges of emotions flowing through the story. There were moments of laughter, anguish, and sadness which when combined created a story that left me wanting more.

Verdict:
This is a great addition to the Bradens at Peaceful Harbor series. If you enjoy romance stories that are sweet, heartfelt and passionate then you will love Whisper of Love.

N.B. Although it is a part of a series, it is a stand-alone read.

Tempest Braden, music therapist and exhausted! Since moving from Peaceful Harbor to Pleasant Hill, she's been living with her cousin Jill who's working most of the night designing and making new outfits for her dress shop. The problem is Jill likes to dance around to loud music whilst she works, leaving Tempe unable to sleep through the constant noise. Needing her business to expand sufficiently to afford a more permanent base, Tempe decides to find another place to rent, leading her to a farmette with a sexy single dad.

Nash Morgan, sexy single father and frustrated! He adores his three-year-old son and the life they have surrounded by chickens and goats but compromises mean, he's broke and doesn't have time to do what he wants to do. It's a gamble to advertise a room to rent in his house, but Nash decides the extra income will assist with fixing the place and replacing his worn tools. After receiving a call from a woman to view the room, he's surprised when a sexy, blonde turns up because she has the potential to disrupt his careful, secluded life.

Moving to Pleasant Hill was a daring move for Tempe. She's always been careful and taking risks are not usually part of her life plans. Meeting Nash makes her bolder, although they both know that with a small child around, they have to be cautious. The past has made Nash build a protective emotional wall around himself and his son, unaware that their quiet lifestyle away from other people isn't the best long-term environment for a small boy. With Tempe awakening him to a feeling he didn't know existed, can he trust her with the secrets of his past that have haunted him since he was fifteen-years-old?

What I love most about Melissa's protagonists is their ability to communicate their concerns for sensitive issues in a rational and mature way. In Whisper of Love, Tempe used her experience as a musical therapist and work with children to highlight the importance of social interaction for small children. Nash, responds by listened because Tempe pushes just hard enough not to upset him too much. She backs her concerns with evidence and practical solutions. As a result, the potential conflict doesn't arise because Nash, although irked by the criticism, doesn't feel threatened to become defensive. Instead, he respects Tempe giving him space to think through her suggestions to make the right decisions for his son. In return, he opens up and trusts Tempe to confide in her, taking away years of guilt and freeing him emotionally to begin believing he can do what his heart desires.

Whisper of Love reunites readers with familiar faces as family members pop up throughout the narrative. The writing style is heart-warming with scenes that will melt your heart...Christmas concert and Ace Braden and Philip. If you've never picked up a Melissa Foster book before, this book like all others is standalone with many recurring characters.

The Braden family has had a special place in my heart since I read Lovers at Heart back in 2013. This is the 5th book in the Bradens at Peaceful Harbor series.

Tempest Braden is the safest of the Peaceful Harbor Bradens. She has watched her brothers and sisters fall in love and she longs for the same. Tempest knows she needs to push herself outside of her comfort zone so she has decided to move out of Peaceful Harbor.

Tempest rents a room from Nash. Nash has pretty much closed himself off from the rest of the world. He spends his days doing his chores around the farm with his son and snatching moments to make furniture in order to make ends meet. Nash is tortured by the loss of someone close to him many years ago. Nash never grieved properly and has never had a chance to come to terms with this loss. Nash has kept himself closed off as a method of protection.

This story won my heart because Nash and Tempest are so obviously perfect for each other. From the moment they met I  had chills. I also adored Nash's son, Flip. He was so cute.

As always Melissa's writing is wonderful, the pace is perfect and she makes it feel like you are part of the story without intruding.

The scene near the end of this book at Flip's pre-school was the sweetest. I honestly couldn't have asked for a more perfect scene. I had happy tears streaming down my face.

I have a feeling there are going to be more Braden stories to come and I cannot wait!!!
