Seaside Whispers by Melissa Foster is book #8 in the Seaside Summer series and it can be read as a stand-alone. Like all the other books in the series, this is about family, love, and friendship. What I have come to realise since starting this series you may not be able to stop at just one book. The moment you begin this series you may be compelled to continue to the end.

I have read several books written by this author and the thing that stands out the most are her characters. I find that they are well developed, likable and easy to connect with. This installment was no different. The moment I was introduced to Matt and Mira, I couldn’t help but love them both.

Matt is a college professor at Princeton and is currently on Sabbatical. He returned home to the Cape where he would have the chance to re-connect with his family and friends. During this time, he planned to re-evaluate both his professional and personal life. Matt is the type of person that would stop at nothing to protect those he love. He would even go out of his way to help a complete stranger when the need arises. These traits helped to enhance his sex appeal.

Mira is a single mom and an accountant by profession. She has had her share of heartache in the past and was not looking to repeat the experience. Therefore, she felt the need to tread lightly where Matt was concerned. She liked him, but she was wary of getting deeply involved, especially as his return to the Cape was temporary. She was a cautious person, especially where her son was concerned. Every decision she made was done with him in mind.

The character that was the highlight of the story, in my opinion, is Hagen, Mira’s son. He was smart, funny and adorable. He helped to make the story that much sweeter.

The story offered up no surprises. I pretty much had an idea as to how things would unfold. What I enjoyed most about this story is the manner with which Matt treated Hagen. He included him in almost every plan he had with Mira. He treated him like he was his own son. Their interaction created a warm feeling within me.

I liked everything about this book. However, there was one aspect of the story that I wished the author had provided more details on. This was in relation to an incident that occurred in Matt’s past. I was hoping that the issue would have been resolved, helping him to come to terms with his guilt.

Verdict:
If you are a fan of romance stories that are sweet and hot, but low on drama then you will enjoy Seaside Whispers.

I always enjoy picking up and reading a Melissa Foster novel and Seaside Whispers really conveys a strong community feel as we follow Matt Lacroux and Mira Savage to their happy ever after.

Princeton Professor Matt Lacroux has had Mira on his mind for a long time, so with a recently secured book deal, he takes a sabbatical from the university and comes home to write his book and to see if this woman that's invaded his dreams can become something more.

Single mom Mira Savage moved back to Cape Cod to be near her family. She loves her job at the hardware store because the boss lets her work around her young son's schedule. However, the business is suffering because it can't compete with the larger stores and she's worried about having to find another job. When the sexy bad boy son of the owner comes back on a sabbatical, Mira's dreams come true only he is only around for three months. Can she protect her heart and her son's too?

It is always a dilemma when writing a review for one Melissa's novels because I don't want to sound like a broken record and keep writing the same phrases repeatedly to describe her writing because all her books are consistent in their quality. Of course, there's always some that have a setting or protagonists more appealing than others, yet all are still enjoyable and fun reads. Seaside Whispers is definitely a favourite. From personal experience, I can relate to Matt's frustrations with his academic career as well as smile at Hagen's thirst for knowledge.

I'm not a fan of novels that include small children especially if they have their own dialogue, however, Hagen more than held is own in this novel in a relatable way. He was an integral part of Matt and Mira's story and complimented the protagonists perfectly.

Overall, I loved this book because it's sexy, heart-warming with captivating characters.

I adore Melissa’s books and I couldn’t wait to read the last book in this series.

This book follows the last of the Lacroux siblings, Matt. Matt is the serious one. Matt was never one to play the field like his brothers. As soon as he finished school he went to college and he always knew he wanted to be a Professor. However after watching all his siblings fall in love Matt’s not sure that is still what he wants. Matt takes a sabbatical and returns to seaside for the summer.

Matt first met Mira at his brother Grayson’s engagement party. They hit it off straight away but living so far apart and with Hagen to think about too Mira and Matt were scared to cross that line. I love Mira and I really admire her. She has been through a lot and she has come out of it so much stronger.

I adored this story. It was a sweet romance without the unnecessary drama. I cannot wait to return for the Bayside series that I know Melisa has in the works.
