Simply put, this book was a perfect ending to Clare’s story, the mystery turning this time to Malcolm’s past and his disappearance. Clare finds herself going to his town in Luna Bay in search for answers as well as piecing exactly who her enigmatic employer was and why he offered her the job when he did. There are so many twists and turns in this novel, you find yourself thinking and wondering what’s going on, how are the cases connected, who is telling the truth, and so forth…You’re basically with Clare, working with the information alongside her.
Clare’s anger and what happened to her, what she had endured, finally comes to its peak here. As the reader you can feel the frustration as she even lashes out on people who seem to be on her side. It’s understandable, of course, but the stakes are so high and the danger really closes in on her that you can see why her anger is erupting the way it does. This coupled with the plot itself leads to a very high adrenaline read; I always felt like she and the others are pressed fro time, that danger is ready to spring at Clare at any given moment.
Overall I really enjoyed Still Here, it brings all of the open story threads that started with Sill Mine to a head, and it was entertaining and thrilling from start to end. I can’t wait to read whatever Amy Stuart writes next, her books are intense and well-written. I highly recommend all of her books
