Queen Song (Red Queen, #0.1)
3 stars — Better written prose than in Red Queen. It also contained more details about their world, but that should've been worked into the novel rather than cast off the side into a novella. In this case, I see Queen Song as a crutch to Red Queen. Plot-wise, no new information emerged; rather, it detailed events that had already been mentioned in Red Queen. Interesting, even if unnecessary.
Steel Scars (Red Queen, #0.2)
3 stars — Similar thoughts on Steel Scars as Queen Song, in that it's superfluous. It offered a little more insight about the setting and who the Reds are vis-à-vis the Silvers. Beyond that, it was like a lollipop for fans who couldn't wait for Glass Sword (Red Queen, #2) to be released: delicious but no nutritional value.
