I like the concept of this book. This girl and this boy, who were both emotionally abused by their parents, find each other. I liked the characters, especially Gunner. Gunner is officially on my book boyfriend list. However, the book could have used some editing. In my opinion, I think the story suffered from too many points of view. I think it would have been better, if the author had just focused on Gunner and Ellie. There was enough of a story between Jefferson and Ari for their own book. Their story was not important to tell in this book.
I did have quite a few "aww shucks" moments, and over all, I liked the book.
