Read for Popsugar's 2018 Reading Challenge #17: A book you borrowed or was given as a gift

I honestly don't know why I keep reading this series. 500 pages and it could have been cut down to about 250 at least. There's WAY too many parts just trying to explain the same comcept over and over again. We don't need pages of each metaphysical realization Anita comes to. We just need some plot. I'm getting a little disappointed. I keep picking up the next book hoping for some more of Anita's detective work and so far nothing. That was the best part of these books and now its gone. We also don't need 2 chapters each time Anita has sex. It's getting a little out of control.

These books are getting too long and they aren't worth it. I skim through a lot of pages because they're either too boring or just fighting over the same things. I'll probably try and finish the series in case it goes back to how it begun but as of right now I wouldn't recommened it.

This is Jason's book and I really liked itIt was nice to read more about him at least. I missed more Jean-Claude though.

light improvement on previous stories but still left me wanting more plot and less porn in this story of a road-trip with Anita. Again with the pointless sex and sermonising about how sex is a good thing while sidelining the assassination attempts on Jason's look-alike cousin because he decided to shack up with a vampire's wife.

There are sparks in this book of what I read the older titles to enjoy them but there aren't enough to light a fire and make me yearn for the next book in the series.

As good as The Harlequin was… well… this wasn’t. The first half of the book was completely boring, and by the time some interesting stuff started happening, it was over. The sex actually was toned down a bit, but this time the plot disappeared, too, replaced by endless heart-to-hearts and silly pre-wedding activities. Anita and Jason are out of town in Asheville, NC for this book, so there are very limited appearances of the usual suspects. I thought I was going to have to complain about Richard’s assholishness yet again, but it looks like there may be a bit of redemption in his future. And most of all, I’m extremely disappointed that a book set in Asheville, NC didn’t have anything in it about the Biltmore. Maybe it’s because I was just recently there, but it seems like it would have made a really interesting location for *something* were- or vampire- related. Really, this book could have taken place anywhere.

I mourn for the early days of this series.
