The narrators do an excellent job of bringing The Lucky Heart to life. I really enjoyed reading this one and the audio was as good if not better. I will definitely be listening to more from the Jamison Valley series in the future.

An easy series to settle into.
Some books/authors/series are really easy to settle into. Whether it be the style of writing, characters or the setting, you just feel like every time you return, it’s like coming home. Sometimes you get lucky and are able to get all three. I’m really enjoying the Jamison Valley series, love the characters and think that Devney Perry is quickly becoming an author to love. She manages to satisfy my need for strong heroes, feisty heroines and additional characters that grow on you so much, you need to know their story too. I’m loving that I have plenty of time to read this series back to back. On the flip side, I’m hating that I’m nearly out of current stock. I should try and draw it out, but I’m loving them too much to stop.
I don’t think 18-year-olds should be making love-life decisions that could ruin your whole life. We all make bad decisions and the ones made by hormonal, irrational and temperamental young adults, are normally the worst. Felicity, Silas and Wes were too young to realise that one night of mistakes will break them apart. All of them feel guilt, sadness and resentment but don’t try to fix things until it was too late. Sixteen years have past and one of them won’t survive. The two left behind need to work past their heartache and see if the connection that Felicity felt at 18, is still there at 34. A lot of time has passed and it’s not going to be an easy journey to find happiness.
To be honest, while I was comfortably settled in The Lucky Heart, I was very frustrated (AGAIN) with characters that would have a lot fewer issues if they bloody opened their mouths and communicated. Sixteen years of separation would not have happened if they had been honest with each other. Sure, Silas felt betrayed and abandoned, but I did feel like he could have made an effort to see “the love of his life”, in the sixteen years they were apart.
Felicity spent a lot of time apologising in this story. While I do agree that she made some mistakes and acted a wee bit nasty, she acknowledged it and tried to make things right. Silas could have taken a little of the blame for her leaving for so long. Felicity was left in the dark about a lot of things to do with Wes that Silas knew about. He also knew where her guilt was coming from but never tried to lessen the burden or see if she was OK. If you love someone as much as he claimed to, Silas should have at least attempted to connect again. I hated that it was Felicity who had to make the initial move.
I love the journey to love we experience in each story of this series from start to finish. There is nothing better than finishing with a big smile on your face. The Lucky Heart left me smiling and sighing with contentment in my heart.
I wonder in the city girl can tame her Goliath…or maybe Goliath can make the city girl, a country girl? I can't wait to start The Outpost.
