I loved this book a story about a personal bodyguard to royalty who has a fatal accident with her charge. She goes on a the run as a space pirate and then gets hired by the farther of her dead charge to rescue his other kid. There is something for every one in this story, political upheaval, lost loves and new loves, heart ache from your past, and an epic plot twist at the end that drags you right into the next book. I think the only thing that did come across to the very end was the explanation behind the book title Zenith and what it actually is and what it can do. I would like to see that come out earlier in the story but since their a book two maybe we learn more in the sequel.

Ugh, I really wanted to like this book. I gave it a chance, but I found myself skimming after 130 pages. With this book at 534 pages, I knew I just couldn't get through it, and if I did, it'd take forever. I have a whole TBR of books I actually WANT to read, so I won't put myself through this. This book was chockful of so many flashbacks and backstory interrupting the present plot that it was distracting and annoying. When the plot actually progressed, I enjoyed it for the most part, but then boop, back to another flashback. There was so much mystery behind Andi's past with both Dex and Kalee that it was offputting. At least for me, there were waaayy too many POVs for this book - 6 in total! It was hard enough for me to try to get through the story, but then I was confused by the constant POV changes. One chapter would be in the past, another in the present, then present, then past, all with different POV's, it was way too jarring. Because of all this, I couldn't really care or feel for the characters. There were some really strong parts in the story that I loved, which kept me reading, but ultimately, I had to DNF this book.

More like a 2.5 stars. There has been a lot of discussion in the booktube community lately and I just thought I should talk about how I felt reading it. I was really excited when we got an arc of this in at my work and I started reading it that same day. I finished it the next day so it was a very quick read. I enjoyed some of the banter between Andi and Dex and their relationship dynamic was interesting. However since reading this book I can't remember hardly any of the plot, and Andi's crew is very muddled together. I felt like the book, although read very fast there was a lot of extra nothing to be honest that could have been cut out. There was no need for this book to be 500+ pages long.

Changed my review from 3 stars to 2. I'm not even sure if I'll read the rest. The writing was too forced and there were too many random people and places thrown in with no descriptions. I'm actually really disappointed for a supposed "New York Times bestseller". It was written like a fanfic would be and I felt like the summary of the book made it seem better than it was. We're told about a badass space pirate but nothing about that main character screamed badass to me. Plus this whole idea of releasing it in parts seems silly. When I pick out a book to read I want to be able to read the whole thing without forgetting what's happening in between. Would not recommend this one to anyone unfortunately.

Quick thoughts:

1. I guess this is only part one not book one. Kind of annoyed by that. There was enough here to properly rate it.
2. This felt like a mashup of The Lunar Chronicles, Six of Crows, and Illuminae which I'm not sure I like. I was hoping for something more original. Even the main character felt a lot like Celeana from Throne of Glass except that there was no proof she was actually badass, just a lot of talk.
3. The mission and the idea of an all female pirate crew seems cool but the authors kept using the names of people and places like we knew who they were but we had no clue. That drove me crazy.
4. I guess we'll see how the rest of this book goes since I can't read the whole thing. I'm not in any hurry to finish it though.
