This is definitely my favorite in the Trinity series so far. I loved the characters, series plot progression (for the most part) and story line. I buddy read this with Anne as part of our Can You Read a Series in a Month Challenge. We both gave it 4.5 stars.

First off, as much as I have enjoyed exploring different parts of the world in the first 2 books - it was SO NICE to be back with Snow Dancer, Dark River, and the Arrows. I love seeing the way several of the characters have continued to grow. And there's just an established familiarity that makes it so easy to fall into their world.

Secondly, I adored Memory. She's incredibly strong and resilient. And she's also so cute - with her innocent joy in things like glittery shoes and bubbles. It's a nice foil to what she perceives as a dark ability. I enjoyed watching as they discovered her new Psy abilities and the consequences of this new designation. And her relationship with Alexi was priceless. She taunted her wolf and he was putty in her hands :)! Alexi is a great character - I found there were references that I don't recall and I wonder if they were never in the books? Anne didn't remember either, so I'm thinking no. I wish we'd had a short or something to give that back story.

Third, we got some interesting new developments in the overall story arch, couched in a really exciting story surrounding Memory. I will admit a slight disappointment that we didn't get further development on the Ming front or on the Consortium front. Especially Ming. He's been evil since the start of the Psy-Changeling series and I desperately want him resolved already. But other story lines got really good development, so I'll only complain a tiny bit.

Once again, narrated by Angela Dawe and a fantastic listening experience. Looking forward to continuing!

Another amazing story from Nalini Singh.

Memory and Alexi couldn’t be more of an odd couple yet they couldn’t be more perfect for each other. Alexi is a Senior Lieutenant of the Snow Dancer pack. He is on patrol on the edge of Snow Dancer territory when he feels waves of grieving and pain coming from the oddest direction. Knowing that the psy had once trespassed on Snow Dancer territory thinking they were outsmarting the wolves, Alexi keeps following the odd sensation until he comes upon a trap door wedged into a small cave. When he pries it open, he finds a small bunker and Memory crying over her cat who has died of old age.

It turns out that Memory was abducted as a child by a psychotic psy with TK abilities who knew about the secret bunker. She has been kept there for years with the cat as her only companion and television as her only window to the outside world. It doesn’t take much for Alexi to convince Memory to leave the bunker with him before her captor returns and teleports her away.

Until he knows it is safe, Alexi can’t return to the den so he takes her to one of the outposts to get her some food and clean clothes. He also needs to contact Hawk about what to do next since Memory is clearly an Empath but her abilities are much different than those of Sasha or Ivy, something that makes a psychopath crave more and more.

As Memory is introduced to the Empaths and makes a home in their training compound, she gets a taste of freedom for the first time. But her wolfie savior wants to make sure that her growing attachment isn’t just because he gave her her freedom, and as Memory grows more confident, she is frustrated by Alexi’s pulling away. So she is going to show that wolf that she is tired of playing games and she is ready to embrace this new life without walls but she wants her wolf by her side.

But Memory’s captor isn’t ready to let go of the high he gets from Memory and while Memory is dodging his searches, someone else wants to stop the E’s from building their honeycomb over the psynet and the E’s will be attacked where they least expect it — from within their own ranks.

Nalini Singh once again weaves her magic bringing us romance and excitement in her special world of changelings and psy.

My only concern is that when characters insist that it is time to tell their story, such as Alexi, we are forgetting that the very fragile psynet needs human bondings to help heal it. My guy, Kaleb, states that the psynet will fail in the next 12 months unless more non-psy bond with psy and help support the psynet but the only human in a story lately was Bowen Knight and he mated with a changeling. The clock is ticking and if we don’t get a psy-human romance soon, it will be too late to save the psy. And we didn’t even deal with any of the larger conspiracies in this story regarding the consortium. There was already so much going on.

I am looking forward to seeing what comes next and how Nalini plans to pull the psy back from near extinction.

What a great addition to one of my favorite paranormal series. I loved seeing all of our Psy-Changeling families like Mercy, Kaleb & Sahara, Ivy Jane and Vasic, Aden and all of the Arrows and I really enjoyed meeting all of the new characters too. The world that Nalini Singh created for these characters is rich and colorful and I absolutely love it. The romance between Alexei and Memory was fantastic and I can't wait for more!

It was good to be back in Pack territory. I wasn’t sure if we were going to back into SnowDancer and Dark River pack territories in this spin off series of the original Psy-Changeling series. It was nice to see so many characters that I loved from the original series.

This story follows Alexi, who has been off and on in the series. He is a bit of a lone wolf. Keeping himself separate from the pack. The males in his family have a history of going rogue, especially after finding their mates. Alexi is determined to never find his mate in order to avoid going rogue like his father and brother.

While he is out patrolling, he “hears” a woman crying out in his mind. Her grief is overwhelming, so Alexi goes to investigate and finds Memory, an E-Psy different from most other Es. Memory was kidnapped as a child by one of the psychopathic Psys that many believed didn’t exist in Silence. But the truth of the matter they did exist, their crimes were just covered up to give the illusion that they were just like everyone else.

This as a fun story. I liked seeing how Alexi and Memory work through their issues to come together and become part of the larger pack and Psy cultures. The fact that they are both misfits and apart from others only helps to bring them together. I also enjoyed seeing so many of my favorite characters.

This is another must-listen for fans of the series. If you haven’t tried the Psy-Changeling series, I highly recommend it. The series takes place in the future and features humans, shifters and psy (which are a species with extremely powerful minds and mental powers).

Narration
I continue to enjoy the narration of Angela Dawe. She’s great with the wide array of characters in this long running series, many of them being men. I think she’s great with the pacing and tone of each scene. If you’ve never listened to Angela Dawe, I highly recommend her.

Wolf Rain fulfilled all my hopes and expectations! I loved Alexie and Memory so much. Especially because even if she seemed fragile, she was very strong psychologically. And she was definitely a match for the golden wolf who thought he might be broken.
There was suspense, there was romance, there was hotness, there was fighting. And I was glued to my kindle most of the day.

I adored this book!! Memory is delightfully different and Alexei is a grumpus. Their love story is great on its own, but the story gives you so much more towards the general arc. You get answers about the psy net, the E's, and a few secrets the Council covered up over the years. Overall, incredible!
