44 page novella that fills in some details about the life in the world of Newcago, would have been a good addition to why they went to Babylon Restored but interesting read.

I should've read it before firefight... Still very enjoyable though!

First I have to say this was a very short novelette,only 5 chapters.
But the story was a good one.It talked about the screening process
people went through to live in Newcago .And how people were still
afraid the Epics would return.
It was a good transition book to Firefight. Although I think with some
good editing it could almost be in the beginning of Firefight, maybe a
prolouge.

Mitosis is a novella that takes place between Steelheart and Firefight, and centers on the revitalization of Newcago after the reign of Steelheart. David is optimistic about the progress they are making to make Newcago safe to live in, free of all Epic’s influence. However it would seem that others are not so sure, and when Mitosis shows up it seems like they were right. I love how much action Sanderson managed to pack in this short story. Even though this story is only about 35 pages I absolutely loved every minute of it. David is on top of his game with the awful metaphors and bizarre genius when it comes to fighting off Epics. And the narrator is fantastic as what he does, he captures David’s personality perfectly and does some great voices for Abraham, Prof., and Mitosis.

I can’t wait to dive into Firefight.

This short story is a follow up to Steelheart, elaborating on the story with the same characters. I enjoyed where it took the city and the characters after the book left me wanting more. The main villain Mitosis, an epic who can split into multiple versions of himself, serves to both advance the characters and our knowledge of the world -- just what you would want in a short story set in the same universe.

Mitosis is a mini-story set between Steelheart and Firelight  in the Reckoners series by Brandon Sanderson. MacLeod Andrews narrates the audio and he nailed David. While the story is only one hour and three minutes long it has all the things I love about this series. Mitosis while small delivered an evil Epic, news about Newscago and plenty of action.

I enjoyed seeing what was happening in Newscago after the events that unfolded in Steelheart. I love the good verse evil, superhero vibe of this series and Sanderson delivered all the elements I enjoy in this short novella. It was interesting to see how the humans were surviving the changes to Newscago, and at first I was surprised. We gain a little knowledge about main characters and it was fun seeing David, well being David. For fans of the series, it is worth a listen.

MacLeod did an excellent job portraying David and even made me laugh as he captured some of David's sarcasm and his interaction with others. I loved the voice he used for our evil Epic. Audiobooks are a new passion for me this year, and until now I have been staying with the same format for trilogies and series that I began with..but I might just break that trend and go for Firelight on audio.

Mitosis offered a neat fix for fans as we await the release of Firelight on January 6, 2015. Mitosis is currently free at on audible.

Need to be prepared for Mitosis. I love that this one managed to tell a good story even with the very small space. David is still impulsive and yet, awesome.
