Most of all, I got so bloody sick of Thora complaining about how Nikolai was too tall and had too big of a dick so he wasn't going to fit inside her. THE WOMAN WOULD NOT SHUT UP!!!
I can't stop thinking about our size difference. "We're not going to fit together," I say aloud.
"I'll be able to fit deep inside you. And when I do, you're going to be entirely full of me."
"We're not going to fit together."
And she probably fits better with him. Physically.
I'm just overly concerned about how large he looks in my tiny apartment. And how tiny I am compared to him. Tiny things don't fit with big things.
He's too tall. I'm too short, and our pelvises do not line up.
Pretty sure I almost rage quit the book just because of all her annoying comments.
Other reasons I didn't like the book:
* There was this whole thing built up about Nikolai being a "demon" or "the devil" but he wasn't a bad guy at all... Moody occasionally—sure. But he wasn't enough of a "bad boy" type to merit being called the devil.. O_O
* No chemistry at all.
* The gymnastics (which was kind of cool) took a back seat to the romance, despite all the "Love comes second" comments from the MC. Thora and Nikolai always insisted that "The circus comes first" and yada yada, but the romance was the focus of the whole book. I wanted less romance and more circus. Or a better romance, that would have been fine too.
* The "best friend" was an annoying dick wad.
* I got sick of Thora's lack of confidence. She was always unsure of herself and second guessing everything. I guess I admire her drive and determination, but other than that she was just kind of lame.
* This book had a bit of the "boring, plain girl wins the heart of the most popular guy ever". Nikolai is "the God of Russia" and all the girls swoon over him. But Thora was kind of boring, plain, not very pretty (according to the book), and not even particularly smart/witty. Half her comebacks were just "because" since she couldn't think of anything else to say. What made her so special?? No idea.
Ultimately, I got bored. I didn't like the romance, and there wasn't enough circus/gymnastics.
