Decent story, liked it well enough to go buy the second one. Not a fan of the way the story is told, and the character is a bit shallow, but the one REALLY emotional scene was written like I was there living and and actually made me nearly cry. Me. The girl that doesn't cry, that didn't cry at her own grandmother's funeral, teared up.
That really sums up this book. The blurb does not do the story justice.
This is the story of JJ and Philip. Neighbors and friends since birth, they have shared so many memories and moments, good and bad. We get to relive their lives as JJ recounts her journey to realization.
I love the dynamic between JJ, Philip and Danny. Their friendship is unique and all three contribute to the special balance in some way. Reading their story made me jealous that I did not have such friends as these. JJ was a very lucky girl.
But the best parts are always the parts where JJ and Philip share a page. They are magical together.
Sucha sweet, romantic, touching portrait of love and friendship.
Like reading a girl's diary... how she fell in love with the boys next door! Really cute and sweet book. JJ is a little nerve wracking but you realize that really, only one boy is capable of taming the wild and wily JJ. :)
3.5 Stars (I like to round up). Very cute. I loved the little diary doodles at the start of each chapter. Likable characters & charming storyline. Great to read as an 'inbetween series' novel or if you appreciate a warm and fuzzy ending.
