Why were there only three friends in this group? I wish there were more, because I am terribly sad to be leaving River Bend. I easily fell in love with this series, and thought the concept was fantastic.

From book 1, I knew Jo would have a great story, because she was so haunted and had unfinished business, and Bybee gave her a story she deserved and so much more.

I am a total Bybee fan. I have read all the Not Quite and the Weekday Bride books. I keep going back to her books, because she gives me great characters and a fun romance with a touch of suspense. Knowing there's an HEA is more or less enough to keep me reading, but the suspense element brings a different dimension to the story which just makes it that much better.

In Making It right, the story focuses on Jo, the former wild-child, who had assumed the role of town sheriff shortly after her father's passing. In the years that followed, she never accepted that her father's death was accidental, and she personally never closed the case. When she suspected that she was being watched, and she signed up for a weeklong class with the FBI, and met her match in the form of Agent Gill Clausen.

"Balance, my friend. She reminds you of your rebellious nature, and I'm guessing you do the same for her."

First and foremost, I want to thank Bybee for giving Jo such a wonderful story. This woman deserved everything she received. She finally met a man who was an acceptable balance of bad boy and upstanding citizen, and he totally won her heart. Heck, Gill won my heart too. He was a pretty incredible hero. He was all manly man on the outside, but then he would share parts of his tender heart with Jo.

Example 1: "Wedding cake is just like any other cake."
He didn't agree. "No, it's sweeter than birthday cake, because birthdays happen once a year, weddings happen only one."
"Not always," she found herself saying with worry.
Gill kissed her forehead once again. "For us. Only once."

Example 2: "Good luck finding that black book," he said when he reached the door.
"Oh, I'll find it."
Gill shook his head once and paused. "I threw it away in Virginia, when I knew I'd see you again."

But Bybee didn't just give her a beautiful romance. She gave her a family, a future, and closure. Jo had no real future before Gill, because there was that big question looming from her past. With the answers revealed, she was more open to possibilities. She was able to move on. I smiled so much from the ending, that my face hurt.

Making it Right is my favorite River Bend story. JoAnne truly deserved some happiness, and Gilles was the man who could step up to the challenge.
There's a lot of suspense here, too, and of course, JoAnne's best friends Zoe and Mel were never far away.
