I had mixed feelings starting Tangled by Emma Chase since the story is told in the hero’s POV. This was one of my first books where it was only said in the hero’s POV, so it took me a while to get into this book, especially since the hero came off as a jerk. I don’t like heroes that are jerks and manwhores, and that is what Drew is the first half of this book. The hero thinks he’s God’s gift to women and uses women regularly.
Drew doesn’t want a relationship until he meets Katherine Brooks at a bar one night. He can’t get her out of his head and wants to be with her. He believes once he hooks up with her, though, that he’ll never want to think of her again. Sorry, that’s not how he works, Mr. Drew Evans. Unfortunately, she’s engaged and doesn’t want anything to do with Drew. He’s about to realize that the woman he can’t stop thinking about is going to be close to him every day at his family’s company.
Katherine Brooks is not like the other women Drew has ever been with because she won’t let him derail her from succeeding at her job. Both Katherine and Drew will end up colliding several times at the company, but for different reasons. Drew is madly in love with Katherine even though he doesn’t want to be, and Katherine is trying everything at first to avoid Drew because she’s engaged.
I don’t want to go into any more detail about what happens in the book because I could give something away. I will say that I liked Katherine in this book because she was determined to succeed at her job and prove herself. She even managed to resist Drew’s charms toward the middle and end of the book, especially with how he treated her on a particular part of the book. I adored her character. It was Drew that drove me crazy. It’s all due to the book being told in his POV. Being inside his head and how he reacted to specific encounters with Katherine drove me bonkers. Although I can’t fault him entirely because he’s never been in love, he even went through a part in this book where Drew thought he had the flu and ended up staying home to avoid Katherine and his job. It took his best friend and his sister to tell him what was wrong with him.
Katherine managed to change Drew drastically, which was a plus for this book. I loved how he changed eventually. Also, Drew did not break up Katherine and fiance in this book, so don’t think that at all.
This book had some funny parts to it that made me laugh, which I was surprised by since the book is told solely in Drew’s perspective. He may have driven me crazy most of the book, but he did prove himself in specific parts of the book.
I give this book 3.5-stars and recommend it to readers that love Contemporary Romance/Romantic Comedies. If you enjoy the book is told in the male’s POV, then you’ll enjoy this book.
Will I read the next book in the series? I’m not sure yet, but maybe in the future. I’m glad I had this book in the audiobook version so that I could listen to it. Otherwise, I would’ve never finished it, especially since my daughters are home for a while due to school being closed. They tend to keep mom busy during the day.

There was so much problematic stuff here. Drew doesn't really change as much as he decides Kate is the thing he wants and he's going to do everything he can to get her, even if it means being a pest and redecorating his apartment and maybe not having sex with every pretty girl at the club. But his process of getting her to agree to another date with him is basically just harassing her in increasingly embarrassing ways until she agrees just to get him to stop. Which is a big red flag in most normal circumstances, but when you're COWORKERS? Talk about an HR nightmare. There were also come transphobic and homophobic comments in the book that I didn't appreciate, even if the book was written in 2013.
I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 only because it was still entertaining in a really mindless way, if you didn't get yourself attached to the characters. I thought maybe I'd give the next book in the series a shot. Then I started it and saw that Drew had returned to his old ways and I couldn't go through it all again.

Drew Evans starts out as, well, a complete jerk, whose life revolves around his work as an investment banker and his family though. His Saturday nights, though, are dedicated to going out drinking with his friends and finding one (or more) willing women. He’s happy with the way things are, until he meets a pretty brunette who turns him down. Turns out, she’s the newest hire at his company, Kate, and he’s assigned to mentor her, which eventually turns into them competing for a lucrative new client. Beginning-of-the-book Drew is a slime ball, the kind of guy who’s not deterred that the latest object of his affections is engaged. It’s somewhat watered down by the fact that it’s coming from his perspective, in a very honest and conversational style that directly addresses the reader. Besides sexually harassing Kate, he’s constantly trying to sabotage her work. Honestly, while it’s funny, it’s also pretty awful, and even with the hint at the beginning that he was going to get his comeuppance, I was tempted to put it down. What saved it, though, was Kate and how absolutely wonderful she was, including how unwilling she was to put up with his crap. Eventually, after the big screwup, Drew does become a reformed man and does the most prolonged and ridiculous grovel I have ever read in a romance novel, from a three-piece marching band to Tiffany jewelry. Watching him turn from a “guy” to a “man” was a pretty enjoyable and hilarious experience, and, frankly, the whole book is pretty funny, especially the banter between Drew and Kate. I also liked the side characters, including Drew’s sister Alexandra and her daughter Mackenzie (and her swear jar).

“No. Crazy like the itch of a yeast infection that just won’t go away.”
While I thought Drew’s groveling was perfectly proportional to how much of a jerk he was, parts of it were completely over the top to me and, frankly, it drug on for much too long. Some of it just reinforced his jerk status, honestly, rather than the repentant relationship-minded lover he was going for. Between that and some of his more jerky behavior (the workplace harassment), it lessened my enjoyment of the book.
Overall, though, it was a decent book, with some very memorable and hilarious moments. It is the first in a series, and I think I will probably add the next to my TBR, mostly out of curiosity whether Drew can keep up his reformed playboy status. If you’re looking for a book from the hero’s POV and don’t mind asshole heroes, then you will probably like this book!

This is a hilarious book and I was often laughing out loud at all of Drew’s antics. Drew and Kate’s verbal battles with each other are like foreplay and underneath all their constant bickering, there is sizzling chemistry. As Drew slowly falls for Kate, it’s comical as he tries to pretend he isn’t in love. Drew is always suave, cool and in control with women, but once he meets Kate, he can’t do anything right. He only knows how to do hook ups, he doesn’t have a clue how to go about a relationship.
I thoroughly enjoyed Emma Chase’s clever writing style. This story is told from Drew’s perspective. We know how he thinks, acts and why he does all the selfish things he does. I had a love hate relationship with Drew, just as Kate did. He is such a guy and a self indulgent jerk at times, but then he can also be sweet and endearing. I love all Drew’s tidbits of advice he continually gives the reader. It had me rolling my eyes at times. There are many interesting and funny secondary characters including Drew’s family, friends and co-workers. I savored this book and I loved everything about it including the snappy dialogue. Well done!

It was entertaining, but sadly, I couldn't buy into another new adult novel about the bad boy womaniser who finds love and changes his way. It wasn't all that funny, and neither character was engaging. The only bright spark was Drew's niece McKenzie, she was adorable. I wish I could have found it as enjoyable as others have, but unfortunately not. It just wasn't for me.

Thank the baby Jesus... this book lived up to the hype! Well written, humorous, witty, and super sexy. DREW! DREW!! DREW!!!!
And I have to give Kate is huge high five for bringing Drew to his knees. I'm definitely looking forward to anything else Ms. Chase writes.
