Wow! All three books in the trilogy have been 5 star reads for me.

SPOILER ALERT!! None for this book, but previous 2 books will be spoiled.

This one was the most stressful, with both main characters up against the courts/police regarding the death of JT. The thing that made it so stressful was that JT was such a horrible person, ANYONE going down for his death would be wrong. I really liked the way Sawyer Bennett handled the nuances of the investigation and felt that the end solution was plausible.

I really enjoyed that the afterword takes us forward several years... a few years at a time. Very cool to see a long view of things.

And the narration is stellar! A+++++!! I will be reading both these narrators in the future (but especially Christian Fox).

Revenge, cover ups, big reveals. Whoa, lots of surprises in the way this went. It was touch and go at times, but in my heart, I knew Bennett would not disappoint me. As for the epilogue, I really appreciated the extended ending. It gave me a lot of closure, and I am greedy like that. Oh, and Dennis solidified his place in my heart over and over again with his brief appearances in this final book, even if he disappointed at the very end.

All good things must come to an end

This review is going to be short and sweet because I need to recover from my sugar addiction…and I don’t want to give anything away.

I was tempted from almost the beginning to do status updates for this book but I was worried about giving away key plot points. As I went further along in Sugar Free, I’ll be honest and admit that I started to lose faith. I though Beck and Sela had lost their minds. I was so peeved at them for the decisions they made. Sela’s immaturity and Beck’s stubbornness was getting them into a whole bunch of strife.

How will this end?

Will their love survive?

Who will suffer the most?

Is there a chance that it will all work out?

Can they be free?

The journey was bumpy and at times hard to take. I was scared to keep going but also desperate to know how it will all play out. I’m sorry to say but I doubted Sawyer Bennett would leave me happy in the end but of course the proof is in the rating.

For the angst lovers, you will be in heaven.

For the angst haters, all I can say is persevere because the epilogue will be worth the heart stutters.

The Sugar Bowl series was addictive. The characters were interesting, the storyline compelling and the smexy times left me squirming. I’ll be sad to say goodbye to Sela and Beck, but I have a feeling we might get a glimpse of them in the future.

Sugar Free nicely ends the Sugar Bowl series... but not after some incredible twists and turns where every possible solution seems impossible.



A lot is going on in Sugar Free, and beware of possible spoilers from Sugar Daddy and Sugar Rush in this review, as it's really very difficult to discuss what happens here without sharing what happened in the prior two instalments. Sela is in a seemingly impossible predicament at the beginning of the story, and Beck jumps in head first to save her and keep her out of harm's way. Even with the horrible actions Sela had to partake in, because she only did it to save herself, I was cheering her on. Beck went way out of his comfort zone on more than one occasion, and while I completely understood the detectives working on the case, I just wanted them to stay away from my characters to let them get on with their lives!

The DA in Sugar Free was the worst possible character, and it was good to have someone to pour my hatred on, especially as she didn't mind using the press to further her own agenda and possible career. It did make for some awesome twists in Sela and Beck's relationship, though, and it definitely tested their loyalty. The trial was heartbreaking, and I could just not see a resolution for the protagonists, not one where they would be free from prison, and possibly happy.

The ending of Sugar Free made me optimistic about a possible sequel or spin-off to Sugar Bowl, as there are many new adventures the main characters and some of the side characters could still go on. Written in first person perspective, with alternating points of view from Sela's and Beck's side, and in past tense, the story unfolded at a fast pace, managing to keep the readers in the dark for most of it. Now that all three books are out, you really should pick them up, pour yourself your favorite beverage (either in a glass or in a cup) and settle in and enjoy this wild ride!



Beck pulls away from me slightly, his hands holding my upper arms with such gentleness. Those eyes I've come to love swimming with fear. My own eyes fill with wetness again and with one blink, the tears go streaming down my face. I haven't been able to stop crying since...

Fuck, I hate hearing these details. She was almost robotic in her retelling, as if she was reciting merely from a bad memory she tucked deep away so as to protect herself, and it was too painful to bear repeating.
