This was a solid 4 - 4.5 stars, but THEN I read the epilogue. Thank you, Sawyer Bennett, thank you for that epilogue. It was so beautiful and touched my heart. I read and loved Alex, and could not wait to read more of the Cold Fury books. This book, however, was a little heavier than Alex. First, I had to deal with the Olivia situation. Then, I had to deal with the Zach and Gina situation. I was constantly alternating between laughing and crying, because Garrett was such a sweetheart and so funny. He and Olivia were such a dynamic duo, but there was always that tragic thing hanging over them. So, what a gift that epilogue was. Now, I must mentally prepare myself to read Zach's story

A few days after receiving some upsetting news, Olivia Case meets Garrett Samuelson, a professional hockey player who plays for the Cold Fury. Garrett’s passionate about hockey and also appreciates all the benefits that accompany his job. Women are always clamoring for Garrett’s attention and he relishes hooking up with them, almost as much as he loves playing hockey.

Olivia is a florist and leads a quite life, but she decides to throw caution to the wind and go out with Garrett knowing it will be one night of sex and she’ll never see him again. It’s not something Olivia usually does, but she decides to have some fun with no complications. Garrett and Olivia are both surprised by the intensity of their feeling when they are together. Garrett has never met anyone like Olivia. She’s a sensitive, loving, fun person and Garrett can relax around her, knowing Olivia likes him for himself, not for his fame or money. The way Garret treats Olivia stole my heart. Garrett is a player and never dates the same woman twice, but once he goes out with Olivia, he wants to spend more time with her. Olivia brings out the best in Garrett and we discover he can be a warm, caring person.

This is another well written, realistic story by Sawyer Bennett and I found myself immediately immersed in the lives of Garrett and Olivia. Although this book deals with some heavy issues, there was fun and lightness included in the story for balance. This is the second book in the Carolina Cold Fury Hockey series and each book is a stand-alone. Alex and Sutton were featured in the first book in this series and I was happy they were included in this story too. It was great catching up with them and in fact, Olivia is Sutton’s cousin.
