I really wanted to love this book but it sadly fell flat for me. I kept picturing our main character Avery and her friend Sadie as being fresh out of their teenage years. But I think they were actually in their mid to late 20s? They met the summer Avery was 18 and the description says they've been friends for a decade so that would make Avery 28 but I think at some point in the book it actually says it's been 6 years since they met so that would make her 24. Either way Avery does not read as being in her mid to late 20s at all.

She was a likable enough character but she seemed very naive.

The mystery of how Sadie died kept me interested and I was actually surprised by The Whodunit aspect but I think it's mainly because I wasn't fully immersed in the book because it just didn't hook me in.

And that epilogue? Ugh, how disappointing. Things tied up too neatly, or not tied up at all. It was so random and I just didn't care for it at all.

I'm hoping that I will enjoy this author's other works but this one just wasn't the one for me.

My first thoughts were comparing it to Veronica Mars, with no Dad and she didn't date Duncan. That doesn't really hold up though.

My next note is calling her an idiot.

Every time I was close to quitting, it pulled me back in.

Okay, I like the "prelude to destruction".

Get to it!

Double dumbass.

I liked the narrator, but man, I'm glad I borrowed this instead of buying. I did take a break once I got half-way through, but had to come back to make sure I was right.
