The Sin Brothers has been a whirlwind for me. I won an audiobook of book one last year and I’ve flown through the series very quickly. This series is packed full of adrenaline. I fell in love with all three of the Dean brothers in the first book and really enjoyed getting to know each of them. Reading each of their stories was a real treat. I quickly fell in love with each of the brother’s love interest as well. I love the women, even though the brothers are the main focus of the series. In the fourth and final book, we finally get to meet Jory, the youngest brother. It was well worth the weight.

For the the first three books, Zanetti has led us to believe that there was a very large possibility that Jory is no longer alive. His brothers saw him get shot, and didn’t hear from him again. We start this book with Jory back in the hands of the Commander. He has recently woken up from a two year coma. He has a chip in his neck, set to severe his spine within a week, just like his brothers. The difference, his is damaged and the computers can’t talk to it to deactivate it.

I was very surprised by the heroine, Piper. She is the daughter of the Commander. I can’t believe he has a daughter. She is a genius computer hacker. She was brought in to try to access Jory’s chip. She has a hard time knowing who to trust, her father, who she barely knows, or this prisoner, who she has been told has committed treason.

Total Surrender is a very fast paced story. All the books in this series have been quick, but this one is the fastest pace yet. There are tons of twists and turns, so we never know what is going to happen. Also, Zanetti really took this one to the wire. You really feel like you are holding your breath the entire time. The romance is hot. Jory gives new meaning to sexy.

I felt that the first three books of the series could be read out of order without missing out too much. This one is different, I would read last. I think you would miss something without knowing the full story going into this one. Total Surrender really wraps up the story of the Dean brothers. I will miss my time with the brothers and their females. This is a series that I will revisit again, that is for sure.

Narration
Karen White nails the narration of this series. There are a bunch of characters in this final book of the series. Zanetti gives all the characters we’ve met at least a little page time, so White had to keep all the characters straight and clearly defined with each having their own voices. The emotion that is delivered throughout the series is great, but it is ratcheted up several notches in this final story.

The final (?) story of the Sin Brothers series was certainly exciting. It was full of chase scenes, fights, gun fire and daring escapes. I'm sorry to see the end of these devoted brothers. The ending will be satisfying yet leaves a little wiggle room if Rebecca decides to toss in a follow up novel or novella to tie up some loose ends.

This was definitely the most exciting of the four stories going from one chase and escape to the next. My family wanted dinner and I only lifted my head long enough to shout "Order something. I'm in the middle of a chase."

During the prior story, we learned that the youngest Dean brother, Jory, was still alive, and was being held by the Commander. In Total Surrender we find that as soon as Jory wakes from a two year coma, he immediately begins rebuilding his strength and preparing to escape so that he can save his brothers. All the brothers were implanted with a computer chip which will detonate and sever their spines if a code isn't input within a certain period of time. Since the brothers escaped the Commander's compound five years ago, the final deadline to reset the chips is almost upon them. They have not been able to figure out the algorithm on their own. They need to get into the compound to find their brother and to find a computer to reset the chips so they can be removed.

Jory's chip was damaged when he was shot so he knows there is no hope for him. In an attempt to keep one of his favorite experiments, the Commander sends in a computer hacker to try to reach the damaged chip so it can be reset before the deadline. Of course, the computer hacker is smart, beautiful and intriguing. She is also the Commander's daughter.

Piper only found her father recently when she was being arrested for hacking into his company's database. So the Commander "saves" her and gives Piper what she has always wanted, a chance to know her father. Piper has always fantasized that her father was a hero soldier. Although we know what a bastard her father is, Piper believes every word he tells her which leaves us frustrated by her ignorance.

Not only does Jory need to escape so that he can get to his brothers, there is another organization which wants to break into the compound. PROTECT wants to stop the commander and kill his abominations. The Dean brothers need to stay under the radar of both PROTECT and the Commander while breaking in the compound themselves to reset the chips.

There is so much action and running around and Jory spends a lot of time trying to convince Piper that it is the Commander who is the real danger that her 180 turn around supporting Jory and their falling in love seemed very jerky. It eventually smooths out, but there is still the little girl in Piper who wants the Commander to be the hero and to show the brothers that he is not as evil as they think. What does happen is that we get a further look into how evil the Commander truly is in his goal to create the perfect, obedient soldier.

THOUGHTS:
This was a great series and I will miss the Dean brothers. Although we are given plenty of closure, there are still some open threads which could equate to another novel or novella, so we can keep our fingers crossed.

Romancewise, Nate and Audrey's story was my favorite. This one gave us more action and a satisfying series end.

Oh my goodness, this final installment in the Sin Brothers series was definitely action packed! And fast paced. And it also had a little romance and a lot of different story-lines running alongside the main plot.

Fast paced, nail biting, sexy, 4 and 5/16 Cocktails of page turning adventure.

I will explain the 4 and 5/16 stars further on.

So far I have read two finales out of the three series that Rebecca Zanetti has written. She does not disappoint. Her writing mixes in action and hot sexy scenes to keep our personal fans turned on high.

In Total Surrender we finally get to see where Jory has been and what has been happening to him all this time. His three brothers, Shane (Forgotten Sins) Matt (Sweet Revenge) and Nate (Blind Faith) never gave up hope that he somehow survived after watching a video of him being shot.

Jory being held captive by the evil Commander is fighting against time to save himself and his brothers from a dangerous chip that has been surgically placed in their spines to activate and kill them all.

While in his cell he meets Piper the beautiful computer hacker hired to do the work of the Commander who wants all the brothers captured and killed.

Piper I loved. She was no nonsense type of gal but being put in a place of who to believe and not believe made her more vulnerable. Trying to get the info she needs to impress the Commander and trying to avoid the feelings for Jory the prisoner whom she believes is a traitor to our country is bringing out in her. Jory telling her that the Commander cannot be trusted and the Commander telling her that Jory is trained to use his “skills” on the opposite sex to get what he wants. Oh what is a girl to do? Go with the hot guy of course.

Jory is probably my favorite of the brothers. The way Rebecca wrote him as a hot bad ass hero who does what he needs to do to save his girl but lets her , well almost lets her make her own choices especially when it comes to her family was very admirable.

So now for the 4 and 5/16 out of five stars rating.

In all the books of the Sins Brothers series there was always one hope that all the brothers had in all their own books. Jory. The search for Jory, the hope that Jory was alive and they could save him. So when Jory escaped and finally made contact with his brothers it was bittersweet. The reunion was very emotional. But I guess I wanted to see what their reaction was when they all the brothers got “the call” from Jory. I wished there was a chapter where we could have read about their feelings seeing that message from their long lost brother. After all this time and searching… Jory is ALIVE!... But that wasn’t in the book. Other than that I loved how the series ended and it looks like there can be more if Rebecca wanted to continue it. Maybe they can meet up with the Dark Protectors and save the world or something…. It could happen. ☺
