I just didn't connect with this one. I can't say I'm a big fan of motivational speakers, so, unfortunately, Simon was already being looked at with squinty eyes. I just couldn't get my head around a bloke motivating and centring on women. I was a little leery of a man giving relationship advice to women. Simon's motivation seemed to be how to get a bloke like him...rich, successful and good looking. Sure, there was plenty of - look inside yourself...picture your dreams...don't settle for less than you deserve. It was all just a little hokey to me. Yep...My Name is Stacey of the Sassy variety, and I'm the biggest CYNIC that ever lived.
Again, I'm a huge fan of Sebastian York but it seems strange having an American narrator when Simon is English. What was even weirder is that the snippet at the end of Easy Melody was a Pom (if my memory serves me right).
A couple of hotheads getting together is always going to be explosive. Charly is looking for her perfect man...insta-love and a guaranteed happy ever after...hahahahahahahahahah!!!! Simon is scared to love or commit again after a bad marriage. He jet sets around the world motivating women to reach for their dreams, and she doesn't want to leave New Orleans. There's a lot stacked against them finding a happy ever after.
Honestly, I'm still convinced that Rachel Fulginiti should have narrated this series on her own. She makes the books come to life for me and I enjoy listening to her voice. Sebastian York's voice sends a shiver up my spine but it doesn't always mean that he's perfect for every book. Just my opinion.
I liked Easy Kisses but I didn't enjoy it as much as the others in the Boudreaux series. I will definitely be going on though because I think Beau is going to have his world shaken up and Malory is just the girl to rattle him.
