The School for Good and Evil was just an adorably fun read. The characters were deep, the story was fast-paced and entertaining, the worldbuilding was just *chef's kiss*, it was whimsical, fantastical, and the characters were just great, subverted tropey fun.
This was everything that middle-grade fiction should be. It never once talked down to its readers, interactions with adults in the story felt genuine, and it had dark, violent, and romantic moments. Nothing was gratuitous, but it also didn't shy away from bigger, darker themes.
I just genuinely enjoyed reading The School for Good and Evil, and isn't that what reading should be all about?
