Nestled beneath DON ENRIQUE’s Águila Manor is the world’s most lucrative iridium ore mine, the source of power for all dark magic.

REINA would be dead if not for her estranged sorceress grandmother (who is less than thrilled to have her mixed-race grandchild muddling her plans to manipulate don Enrique). But when don Enrique’s daughter CELESTE—half-valco, an antlered race with superior battle capabilities—becomes smitten with the newcomer, Reina finally sees her chance to have a home. She’ll do anything to earn—and keep—the family’s favor. Even dark tasks that seem more evil than good.

Then, don Enrique’s wife dies giving birth to the boy meant to inherit his power, and all of Águila Manor is devastated. Until Reina’s grandmother devises a dark plan: don Enrique could gain the power to bring back the dead, so long as he finds—and sacrifices—the reincarnated wives of the God of the Void, RAHMAGUT. Desperate to bring his lost wife back, don Enrique enlists Reina with delivering all of these wives to his manor for slaughter.

But as Reina closes in on the last of Rahmagut’s wives, darkness envelops her, along with the realization that the woman she hunts is her beloved Celeste herself. And when a member of the Águila Manor is possessed by the angry God’s demons, Reina finds herself in the most dangerous race of her life: find a way to spare Celeste, or make the ultimate sacrifice and unleash not only one God upon the world, but his ancient rival as well.

THE SUN AND THE VOID is an adult high fantasy deriving its lush setting and history from 1800’s Gran Colombia, and inspired by the folklore of Venezuela. With fresh new races, twisted family politics, and themes of identity, it will appeal to fans of Hayao Miyazaki and readers of Naomi Novik’s Spinning Silver.
