Well that was disappointing. Sadly this was nowhere near as good as Kings of the Wyld.

The main character in this one was really boring in comparison. We pretty much got a bystander who just told the story. There was no heart, little interaction, and no personal) intimate stakes.

In the first book we got a guy helping his best friend save his daughter — personal, friendship, high stakes. Like 60% of this book was girl joining a gang for adventure. Low/no stakes, no personal investment, and not even that much connection between the characters.

One of the things I really liked about both of these books, is that they are told from the POV of what would be considered a side character. That POV also made it difficult for me to connect with the main characters, and so when things happen that are traumatic to the MC, I was not as emotionally invested and so not as upset/sad/scared/angry as I would have been with a closer POV story.

Not quite as light hearted and hilarious as Kings of the Wyld, but still amazing and still pretty funny in many parts.
